Know thy neighbour
I follow PaGaLGuY regularly, so decided to write a post which may help others.
I attended GLIM GD/PI on 7th Feb, 2015 at Bangalore – 12.30PM slot
Essay –
One topic was to be selected from 3.
Topic
– Further reservation should be implemented in India.Do you agree or disagree.250 words. 20 mins were given for the entire process.
GD – The group consisted of 8 members. Two professors in their late 40s were in the GD panel.
They started with asking everyone to introduce the fellow participants (Name, Job, work ex, stream, interests etc) and gave 5 mins for it. Explicitly he asked one person about the hobbies of his neighbour when he was giving the introduction.
A painting was hanging and they wanted to know about the creative aspects of everyone’s thinking.
Then they asked us to choose the logo for a random company between the painting and a blank board and why.As majority of the students selected the painting, he gave 3 mins to the other group to convince atleast one member of the team who selected painting that the board was a better choice. No one was convinced.
PI – The panel consisted of 2 professors who started with asking about myself.
They interrupted in between with questions related to my work – like projects , role, leadership skills, promotions, about my employer etc..then they asked me about my strengths in one word each and then asked general questions like Why MBA? Which specialisation? Why Marketing and not Analytics? etc. They were finding a connect between my current profile and aspirations and rather explained these things in detail as well.
Then they asked about my role model and after quoting the general statement that since women are not good entrepreneurs – examples where women had demonstrated outstanding capabilities.
1. I told about Gini Rometty the current CEO of IBM
2. Chanda kochhar
3. Then they asked about a significant figure from south bangalore indirectly. I told them about Kiran Mazumdar Shaw – Biocon.
They asked about and questions about GLIM and then the feedback as well.
The interview went for good 35 – 40 mins. They almost asked about every detail mentioned in the application form. The panel was rather friendly and dynamic and it was like having a conversation with them.r
