Why NEET UG 2017 results will take a couple of days more: Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Director, NEET
About 11,38,000 candidates who took the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 were relieved after results.gov.in put out a notification stating that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to declare the results today, June 20. However, shortly after PaGaLGuY reported about it, they changed the notification, stating that as of now no new result is scheduled to be announced in next few days.
Alternatively, to stay updated about when the results of NEET 2017, which was conducted on May 7, can be expected, PaGaLGuY spoke to Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Director, NEET, on June 19, 2017. Dr Bhardwaj mentioned that the results are likely to be declared in the next couple of days. He disclosed that it takes time to prepare the final results. This is how the timeline goes:
- June 13-14, 2017 – Candidates’ OMR sheets, and recorded responses released, CBSE opens the window to challenge the same for discrepancies.
- June 15-16, 2017 – Official answer keys were released, CBSE allows candidates to challenge the answer keys.
Once the Challenging round is over, a third party, which is outside the current NEET committee takes over, and checks the papers, challenges etc. Dr Bhardwaj, added, “It takes time, and we do not want to interfere and hurry with it, because it is a crucial step. Following this, NEET officials check every single paper, and the scorecards/results are prepared.”
He continued, “NEET UG 2017 results will take a couple of days more.”
NEET authorities are working overtime to make sure there is no more delay in releasing the results. After the Supreme Court directed CBSE to release NEET 2017 results, they gave them a deadline of June 26. It means that CBSE has six more days to release NEET UG 2017 results.
