“Exam-takers should stop tampering with OMR sheets, and scorecards,” says NEET Director Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in an official note released on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) portal warned candidates to refrain from tampering with their OMR sheets. While Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Director, NEET, mentioned such incidents on the phone with PaGaLGuY on June 9, 2017, he has also released an official note about the same, highlighting it in red.
NEET 2017 Director asks candidates to stop tampering with OMR sheets
After the Supreme Court overruled the Madras High Court stay on NEET 2017 results yesterday, June 12, 2017, and directed the CBSE to publish the results by June 26, the NEET unit is working overtime to ensure that the results are declared on time.
While talking to Dr Bhardwaj on June 9, about the anxious lot of students and parents, who are eagerly waiting for the NEET 2017 results, he mentioned that some of these students will still be agitated after the results are declared. They will frantically reach out for help but not because there is an error in the NEET UG OMR sheet or scorecard, but rather they tamper with it, and report it to their parents.
He said, “Since 2002, I am seeing that some students would download OMR sheets, scorecards, and use computer applications like Photoshop to edit the same. Incidents like this happen, and we get startled, because it is a very big deal for us, as an organisation, to miss such crucial details.”
NEET Director speaks to PaGaLGuY about candidates tampering with OMR sheets
The note stated that it has been observed by CBSE that candidates make changes/alterations in the downloaded copies of the OMR sheets and claim that their OMR sheets have been tampered with by CBSE. This act of false claim by candidates is covered under unfair practices in Rule 9.1(k) & (l) of Chapter 9 of Information Bulletin. If it is found that any candidate is making such false claims, he/she will be debarred from appearing in future NEET-UG Examinations as per rules. The candidates and parents are advised to check and download the copies of OMR sheets themselves.
