JIPMER MBBS 2017: Candidates say theory-based paper and of moderate difficulty

The online entrance examination for the centrally-sponsored Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) was successfully conducted today, June 4, 2017 in two slots. Approximately 200 seats are available for the MBBS course at JIPMER for the 2017-18 academic year.

Candidates who took the exam say it was not an NCERT-based paper and had more questions from theory section.

Adarsh Mishra from Patna, who took JIPMER MBBS 2017 today, said, “It was not based on NCERT; a majority of the questions were theoretical. There were a lot of questions from Genetics in Biology, though they were not very difficult. Even Physics and Chemistry were of moderate level, and the English and Reading Comprehension section was easy.”

Mishra continued, “Since there is no negative marking, I attempted all the questions. I am hoping to clear the cut-off, and get a seat.”

Another candidate from Patna, Sahil Anand, who wants to become a Cardiologist, said, “The standard of questions in today’s exam was good. Biology questions were different; they were not from NCERT. I am hoping to score well. I think I answered about 150 questions correctly.”

JIPMER MBBS 2017: EXAM REVIEW BY CANDIDATES

About 1,98,000 candidates registered for the JIPMER MBBS 2017 paper. A majority of the candidates confirm that today’s paper did not cover NCERT syllabus religiously, and the quality of questions was good. Amit Kumar Gupta, from Dehradun, said, “Biology questions were complex. Physics section was calculative; it had tricky calculations. Chemistry and English sections were easy.”

Gupta continued, “Since there was no negative marking and each correct answer is worth four marks, I had planned to attempt all questions. But due to some tricky Physics questions, I could attempt 180 out of 200 questions.”

JIPMER has only 200 seats compared to the large number of candidates who had registered for today’s entrance exam for the MBBS course.

JIPMER MBBS 2017 results are expected to be declared by June 19, 2017.
