NMAT 2019 Registration

NMAT is a national level test conducted by the GMAC for admission in top Management colleges around India through an online computer-based test. Some top management schools which consider the NMAT score are NMIMS, SPJIMR Mumbai (PGMPW), ISB, VIT Vellore, XIM Bhubaneswar, and around 18 more schools in India, Philippines, South Africa, and Nigeria.

Full-Form of NMAT

The full form of NMAT is the NMIMS Management Aptitude Test, where NMIMS stands for the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. This exam is held by the Graduate Management Admission Council or GMAC.

NMAT Registration involves two steps:

Step 2: Registration with the NMIMS Institute

Fees

The fee structure for the NMAT is:

NMAT application fees can be paid online through VISA/ Mastercard / Debit/ Credit cards.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for NMAT is:

  • You need to score 50 percent in your three year Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university
  • Students in the final year of graduation can also apply.

The various institutes have their own set of criteria and cut off marks. If you have completed graduation through correspondence or distance education, you might not get admission in the institute you choose.

The application process for the NMAT examination is:

  • Complete the two-step registration process
  • Confirm that you are eligible for appearing in the examination
  • Submit application
  • Payment of fees

Examination Pattern

The NMAT is a Computer Based Test conducted online by the GMAC with a total number of 120 questions divided into three sections. The whole available time is two hours, which is again divided into the time limit for each section. You have the convenience of choosing the order of parts. The different sections are:

Retakes

GMAC allows a maximum of two retakes for a candidate within the year’s testing period. That means a total number of three attempts. Absenteeism is considered a retake.

Scores

The scores of the test are available 4-5 weeks after the examination is held. The ratings are then Scaled to eliminate any difference that may have cropped up due to different candidates getting different papers. The Final Percentile Score is calculated and made available only after all candidates have finished with their examinations. Generally, the final percentile will be made available in the third week of January 2020.

Cut-off Marks

After completion of the entire process of the NMAT examination, each institute declares its cut-off marks on the website. The cut-off each year is decided based on the total number of appearing candidates, the total number of seats, full marks, and the difficulty level of the exam.

  • An extended test window from the first week of October to the third week of December (75 days)
  • You can choose a date, time, and location according to your convenience.
  • You can appear from any of the 48 test centers located throughout India.
  • NMAT allows you to select the institutes where you want to send your score, before and even after the examination.
  • You could apply to the various institutes after going through your grades, or you could retake the test.
  • The fees for sending scores to five business schools are included in the registration fees. You can also send your score to more than five institutes with additional charges.
  • It is a moderate difficulty level exam with no negative marking.

Important tips for NMAT

NMAT is a moderately tricky paper which you can crack with consistent practice and severe preparation. Some useful tips for the NMAT:

  • Plan well in advance of your approach and time management for the test.
  • With practice, you have to aim both speed and accuracy while answering questions.
  • Do not use too much time for one question.
  • During the test, choose the order of sections carefully as each section has different marks and number of questions
  • Revise your answers before moving to the next chapter as once you close the part, and the answers are considered final.
