The passing marks which are required by the students studying the class 10th and 12th have been released by the Central Board of Secondary Education. This notification includes the minimum marks required for both the theory and the practical.
According to the official notification it is seen that the students need to score a minimum of 33 per cent in theory as well as in practical/ project/ internal assessment and an overall 33 per cent of marks in each subject to pass the class 10th or 12th exam 2020.
CBSE, also known as Central Board of Secondary Education, is a national level board of education in India for both public and private schools. It is controlled by the Union Government of India. CBSE schools follow the NCERT syllabus. There are about 20,299 schools which are under the CBSE board. It was established on 3rd November 1962.
The details which are provided through the official notification include:
- List of subjects with the indication of marks to be scored in theory and practical.
- Various subject maximum and minimum marks that can be scored in each for theory
- Maximum and minimum marks which can be scored in the practical subject-wise.
- Duration of the exam which will be conducted.
Criteria for candidates to pass Class 10th
Those candidates who will be appearing the Class 10th will have to score a total of 33% of marks in both the theory and practical. The exam, project work and internal assessment are to be conducted by the school itself. There will be an external examiner who will help in successful conduction of the exam. This external examiner will be arranged by the board.
The practical exam for both 10th and 12th will be conducted between 1st of January to 7th of February 2020 as per the guideline given by the CBSE board. The board will also arrange a supervisor who will check the conduction of the practical exam and the project assessment.
The written exam for the classes 10th and 12th will be conducted from 15th of February 2020. The initial examinations will be of the vocational subjects which will be followed by the important subjects which will be according to the specific streams. The exams will go on until March 2020.

The breakdown of the marks for Class 10th can be given as follows:
- Language: according to the state, the language will be different, and it will consist maximum of 100 marks out of which the students need to score 33 marks
- Maths: will be conducted for a maximum of 100 marks and the marks to be scored by the students is 33 marks
- Science: maximum: 100 marks, minimum: 33 marks
- Computer applications: maximum: 100 marks, minimum: 33 marks
