67 out of 74 candidates clear UPSC 2015 from Andhra and Telangana
Candidates from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have fared well in the Union Public Service Examination (UPSC) as 67 out of 74 cleared the examination. The Civil Services exam result was declared on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
Kirthi C from Visakhapatnam bagged the 14th position and was the topper in the twin states. A graduate of the Indian Institute of Madras, Kirthi had cleared the examination in her first attempt last year. She had qualified for the Indian Revenue Service, and in the subsequent attempt, she has qualified for the Indian Administrative Service. She had taken her coaching for the civil services examination from Brain Tree at Hyderabad, and she is one among the 17 toppers from the coaching institute.
“More than 65 students have qualified for UPSC from both the states this year. It is one of the best results that we have had in the recent past. One of the reasons could be the qualifying nature of the CSAT paper. It has enabled rural students to compete and qualify for the examination. We can look forward to higher results,” said Gopal Krishna, director of Brain Tree.
The Telugu speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh saw 38,925 candidates for the Preliminary examination. Nearly 1,000 aspirants had appeared from Hyderabad, the only centre for the Mains. The number of candidates who appeared for the UPSC exams from Hyderabad was the highest at 23,788, followed by Vijayawada (5,133), Vishakapatnam (4,950), Tirupati (3,230) and Anantapur (1,194).
With an all-India rank (AIR) 65, Valluri Kranthi secured the second position in the twin states and Ramakrishna Ch secured the third position with AIR 84. Among other candidates who secured top ranks were Vasana Vidhya Sagar Naidu (AIR 101), Allatipalli Pavan Kumar Reddy (AIR 179), Y Rishanth Reddy (AIR 180), Varun Guntupalli (AIR 183) and VG Satish Pasumarthi (AIR 191). 55 others secured ranks above 200.
The Sri Chaitanya IAS Academy boasts of the highest number of students who have qualified for the exam; out of 67 top scorers, 29 are from the Academy. Other coaching institutes such as Le Excellence, CBS IAS Academy, RC Reddy IAS Study Circle also have a fair share of UPSC rankers.
