SSC CGL 2015: How to fill-up the Biodata form

of all, we congratulate all the candidates who have successfully cleared the
SSC-CGL 2015 Mains exam. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has already
started issuing call letters to the shortlisted candidates for the third and
final phase of the exam i.e. the Personal Interview (Personality Test).

In
this article, we will discuss all the questions and details asked in the
biodata form and also provide you tips to fill-up the form correctly.

Be sure to read that day’s newspaper
headlines in order to be able to answer important current affair questions.

Name (In Block Letters) (as written in Application Form):

Interviewers
might casually ask the meaning of your name. You should be prepared for such
questions.

Date of Birth:
Before going to the interview, should read about any
important historical events that happened on this day. Also, check for any
important national/international day annually celebrated on that day. For e.g.:
Teacher’s Day, World
Environment Day, etc.

8. Marital Status: Unmarried / Married:

9.  Fathers/Husbands Name: You should be able to promptly answer questions based on
your father or husband’s occupation and few other facts about
your family.

Ex. If your father is a doctor, then interviewer might
ask about your choice of being in the field of administration but not in the
medical field.

      (ii) Permanent Address: You should expect
questions about your hometown, famous places and personalities who hail from
your native place.  Also, interviewers
might ask you questions on the local cuisine, any tourist spot, etc.

You
should be well aware of any such famous personalities, personalities associated
with your mother language which are currently in news. You should also know
about books, films & plays related to your mother tongue.

It is also
advisable to be prepared with important facts about the state where you reside,
including salient geographic and historic facts, name of the Chief Minister and
Governor, etc.

a)
You should mention details of the
extra-curricular activities you pursued during your academic years.  

b)
Then, you should state your
achievements in these extra-curricular activities.

c)
You should also expect questions based
on current events related to an activity you have excelled in. For e.g.: If you
have stated Football as your extra-curricular activity, you should be aware of
current developments related to the sport, ongoing tournaments, rankings of
players, etc.

d)
You should be prepared for some
factual questions based on your school, college and university.

Participation in NCC, NSS, Social Work, Mountaineering and other group
activities (Certificates to be shown)

If
you have been a part of NSS or NCC activities, mention the events and projects
you participated in. Carry the certificates you were awarded as proof.  You should also be prepared for the questions
based on history, tole & objectives of NCC or NSS.

Details of work experience, if any (in reverse chronological order i.e. last
one first and so on) (with certificates)

Mention all the details related to
your previous job profile.

b)
Fill-up the column of ‘Nature of Duties’ with specific
details of the work assigned to you.

profile will be based on the information you provide in this section.

Be prepared for questions related to
your job profile, skill set, and responsibilities you took up in your previous
company.

e)
Keep yourself updated regarding the
current events in your job sector too.

17.  Hobbies/Interests:

a)
Be prepared for questions pertaining to your hobbies, interests, activities,
etc. For e.g.: if you state reading as your favourite hobby, then some of the
immediate questions may be:

Who
is your favourite author?

What
do you like about his writing?

What
is your favourite genre?

Why
do you read books of this particular genre?

b)
Make a list of possible questions based on your hobbies/interests and prepare
precise answers for the same.

What have you been doing since you completed your studies?

Be
honest and tell the interviewers how you spent your time. Whether you took up a
job or were preparing for competitive examinations, be sure to state only
facts.

Any other relevant information the candidate would like to state?

In
this section, you can provide information about any particular exam you have
cleared or any interesting/important event you participated in. You should
mention any reasonably noteworthy achievement that you have accomplished, no
matter which field it is related to. Note: Ideally, You should not leave
this column blank.
