A] General Information about RBI Grade B
What is RBI Grade B?
RBI conducts RBI Grade B Officer exam annually for Direct Recruitment (DR) for the posts of officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – General, DEPR and DSIM in Common Seniority Group (CSG) Streams. In 2015 the Reserve Bank of India to introduce a new scheme of selection for recruitment of officers in Grade-‘B’ (DR), from recruitment year 2015. Under the new scheme of selection the examination for General posts will be consist of two phases, viz., Phase-I and Phase-II (both in online mode) followed by Interview.
RBI Grade B-Officer Career Prospects
RBI offers lucrative pay-scale and perks. There are also reasonable prospects for promotion to higher grades. Below are some of the details about the same as per RBI’s 2018 notification.
(i) Pay Scale: Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of Rs. 35,150/- p.m. in the scale of Rs. 35150-1750 (9)-50900-EB-1750 (2)-54400-2000 (4)-62400 applicable to Officers in Grade B.
They will also be eligible for Dearness Allowance, Local allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family Allowance and Grade Allowance as per rules in force from time to time. At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments are approximately Rs. 75,831/-(approx.)
(ii) Perks: Reimbursement of expenses for maintenance of vehicle for official purpose, newspaper, telephone charges, book grant, allowance for furnishing of residence, etc. as per eligibility. Free dispensary facility besides reimbursement of medical expenses for OPD treatment/hospitalisation as per eligibility. Interest free festival advance, Leave Fare Concession (once in two years for self, spouse and eligible dependents). Loans and Advances at concessional rates of interest for Housing, Vehicle, Education, Consumer Articles, Personal Computer, etc. Selected candidates will be governed by ‘the defined contribution New Pension Scheme (NPS)’, in addition to the benefit of Gratuity.
(iii) Accommodation: Bank’s accommodation subject to availability. At certain centres, limited number of residential quarters are available. Facility for securing residential accommodation on lease, however, exists at all centres.

RBI Grade B 2018 Eligibility
I. Nationality: a candidate must be either:
a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
II. Age Limits:
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st of July, 2018 i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1988 and not later than 1st July, 1997. For candidates possessing M.Phil. and Ph.D. qualification, upper age limit will be 32 and 34 years respectively.

PGDM/MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute. c. Master’s Degree in Economics in any of the sub-categories of economics i.e. agricultural/ business/ developmental/ applied, etc, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute. (For SC, ST and PwBD candidates the requirement is second class with an semester aggregate minimum of 50% marks) |
3. Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM |
a. A Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years; OR b. Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an institute of repute; OR c. M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters / years OR d. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years. (For SC, ST and PwBD candidates the requirement is second class with an semester aggregate minimum of 50% marks) |
C] RBI Grade B Application
Candidates have to apply only online through the Bank’s website i.e. www.rbi.org.in from July 3 – July 23, 2018. No other means/mode of applications will be accepted. Candidates desirous of applying for posts in both Gr. B (DR)-General and Gr B (DR) DEPR / DSIM (as the case may be) are required to apply using links for both the positions separately and pay the fees for both.

D] RBI Grade B Exam Pattern
Prelim Examination (Phase I) of RBI Grade B(DR)- General
The prelim exam for RBI Grade B will take place on 16th August 2018. The date, time and venue on which a candidate has to appear for examination will be specified in the Admission Letter (AL) to be downloaded by the candidate.

RBI Grade B Interview
Total Marks: 50 marks
Mode: In-person
Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview, based on aggregate of marks obtained in Phase-II (Paper-I +Paper-II +Paper-III).
The minimum aggregate cut off marks for being shortlisted for Interview will be decided by the Board in relation to the number of vacancies.
Candidate may opt for interview either in Hindi or English.
Final Selection will be through merit list which will be prepared by adding marks secured by candidates in Phase-II examination and interview.
