The most prestigious engineering entrance exam, JEE Mains 2016, in pen-paper mode was conducted in two parts (Paper 1 and Paper 2) on Sunday, 3 April 2016, across the country. While Paper 1 was for those students who were applying only for an engineering course, Paper 2 was for those who were interested in a B.Arch degree.
Around 10,632 aspirants appeared for Paper 1 of JEE Mains at 20 examination centers in the morning shift in Kota today while 1,099 appeared for Paper 2 in the afternoon shift at two examination centers. The two centers were Lawrence and Mayo Public School and Rajasthan Technical University. “Around 1,222 students were expected to write the exam but 170 aspirants skipped it,” said, Pradeep Singh Gaur, CBSE Coordinator, Kota, adding, “The examination passed off smoothly.”
Heaving a sigh of relief, Pallavi, who wrote the exam, said, “It was definitely easier compared to Paper 1 held in the morning shift. The paper had aptitude test, logical reasoning, drawing and plan as its components. The Mathematics section was relatively difficult in Paper 2 than other components.”
Another aspirant Priyanka Rana, who appeared in both the papers today, said, “Paper 2 was easier than Paper 1 but Mathematics section was tough,” adding, “The drawing component in the paper focused on bringing out the creativity of the aspirant.”
Academic Counselor Amit Ahuja said that Paper 2 has few takers and not many take the exam.
