Akshat Jain from Jaipur who has graduated from IIT Guwahati in the year 2017 has managed to crack the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2018 at the age of 23 and secured AIR 2nd rank in his second attempt.

In his first attempt to crack the UPSC Civil Services Examination, Akshat has appeared for the examination with a mere three months preparation and did not manage to qualify the preliminary examination by two marks. He said that three months of preparation time is way too less to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and then decided to crack the examination in his next attempt.

This time he has dedicated a time frame of one year to prepare for the examination and has managed to not only crack the IAS examination but also scored AIR 2nd rank in the year 2018.

His success story serves as motivation to not only UPSC aspirants but anyone who is preparing for a competitive examination in general. Almost all the UPSC aspirants who are preparing for the examination or will be appearing for it know him and his journey.

Talking about his incredible journey of cracking the most prestigious examination of the country in his second attempt, Akshat has mentioned his preparation strategies.

The first time when Akshat Jain appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, he had spent only three months for the preparation, and according to him, that is the reason he could not crack it in his first attempt as he says that three months is insufficient to prepare for the civil services examinations. So he decided to reappear the next year by dedicating a year for the preparation and managed to secure AIR 2nd in the year 2018.

When asked about his preparation strategy, Akshat revealed that he dedicated more time in making short notes that were easy to understand and constantly kept referring to them as he feels short notes are easy to remember for a longer period of time. Apart from making short notes, daily revision of the topics has helped him achieve the desired results in the examination.

He emphasizes reading the syllabus several times before starting the preparation and also advises to keep the resources for the preparation very limited. He stated that reading NCERT books for the answer writing part has also helped him a lot. For newspaper reading, he recommends reading a single newspaper throughout to have a clear understanding and knowledge of the daily happenings from time to time.
