A parallel universe
I met a clairvoyante
in a dream
and bit by bit
she grew.
With every passing night,
I could see her better
— the veil lifting gradually
and the darkness waning away
into a morning I had never known,
not even in sleep —
my senses betrayed me often
but she,
seldom did
not even in moments when
sleep threatened to break
into a crimson I dread.
———
The ghost in the dark,
the man who passes by unnoticed
in the unreal city,
the gyspy-woman
ranting her gobbledegook
and the man in the mirror —
came up with wisecracks
that I bet —
made me smile in sleep.
The hooded doppelganger
scattered coffee beans on the garden-table,
and a shower of rain
drenched me to the skin,
the water seeping down beneath the last blanket
on my rickety bed.
