Dr.S.S.Mantha,
former Chairmen of All India Council for Technical Education and a leading
Indian scientist of Robotics, associated with VJTI, Mumbai, was the Chief Guest
on this occasion. Dr.Mantha emphasized on skill development and employability.
He said that over 25 million students are graduating every year, out of which
the number of engineering students is 1 million. In the next 5 years, the
number is going to be doubled and 50 million students will be enrolled for
various undergraduate courses. This is a huge challenge keeping in view that in
the technical education sector, 515 government institutions cater for just 7%
and remaining 93% students enroll in private technical institutions. Dr. Mantha
further said, “The private educational institutions have to play an important role
in catering the educational needs for the youth of the country, without
compromising on quality. We have to meet the global standards and ensure that
every student is skilled enough and meet the requirements of the industry,
particularly in the technical and management sector.” Elaborating further he
said, “At present only 25% engineering graduates are employable while the
remaining 75% are either under-employed or unemployed.”  He also stressed that ‘Make in India, Skill
India and Digital India’ are concepts which will boost the economy trade and
employment opportunities, provided they are implemented rigorously and not just
left as ideas.

Mr.
Aseem Chauhan, President of Amity University Mumbai, presided over the
function. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Amity Education Group is a
pioneer for the cause of spreading quality education across the country. He
said, “To synergize academic-industry needs, Amity has initiated innovation
incubator. With a nationwide network of 17 virtual Incubation Centers, it
offers a range of incubation services like company formation, technology and
infrastructural support and monitoring by industry leaders to help the students
realize their entrepreneurial dreams.” He appreciated the efforts of the maiden
batch of students of AUM in organizing an event within six months of the campus
being operational.

Dr.
V.V. Khole, Vice- Chancellor of Amity University Mumbai (Former Vice-
Chancellor of Mumbai University) talked about the road travelled thus far as an
institution. He spoke on the current academic scenario across the globe, and
advised the students to be skilled and employable enough to meet global

leadership, and become role models for the coming batches.
