Arun Jaitley Hospitalised Today at AIIMS Delhi

The former Union minister and a senior BJP leader, Arun Jaitley was rushed to Delhi’s AIIMS on Friday morning after he complained of asthmatic problems and other inhalation problems. He was put under observation in an intensive care unit of the Cardio-Neuro centre of the hospital.

Eminent political personalities who paid a visit to Jaitley in the hospital today include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and other leaders. As per the information from the hospital “Shri Arun Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS today morning. He is currently undergoing treatment under the intensive care unit under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors. At present, he is haemodynamically stable.”

This 66-year-old politician had opted for a long break from his duties as Finance Minister in the previous year as well after he had undergone a kidney transplant. His deteriorating health conditions also enforced him to skip the interim budget in February as he was under medication in a hospital in the US. Back in May this year, he was also admitted to the AIIMS for treatment.

After the BJP’s landslide victory in the Lok Sabha Election 2019, Mr Jaitley had written to PM Modi clarifying that he would “not be part of any responsibility, for the present, in the new government” because of his health. Jaitley even mentioned in the letter that he had faced “some serious health challenges” in the last 18 months.

A senior doctor of AIIMS informed IANS, “Jaitley was admitted to the cardiology department at AIIMS around 10 a.m. for the medical check-up. He is getting monitored by a team of an endocrinologist, nephrologist and cardiologist”. Jaitley’s family members have been allowed to be there at the VIP provisions of the Cardiothoracic and Neurosciences Centre in AIIMS.

“He is stable now and we are keeping a close eye on his health,” the doctor added in a byte to IANS.

This a lawyer-turned politician has always been considered among the BJP’s chief trouble-shooters. In the past five years, this veteran politician has brought major economic legislation and has also defended controversial policies for the government.
