CBSE asks NEET aspirants in Kashmir to wait for correction facility
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG (under-graduate) aspirants in Kashmir have found themselves in an unwanted situation. By mistake, these aspirants signed a declaration under which they are neither eligible for admission to state colleges nor the 15% all India quota seats.
They made this mistake while filling the online admission forms for NEET UG which is scheduled to be conducted on May 7, 2017, across the country by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Since Jammu and Kashmir opted out of the 15% all India quota seats in medical and dental colleges, students from the state are not eligible for admission under the reserved seats.
After several students in Kashmir, who did their schooling from the state, signed a declaration form which said they are not eligible for admissions in medical and dental colleges in the state, candidates are in a crisis.
NEET UG aspirants requested CBSE to give them a one-time exemption to amend their mistakes, else they will not get a chance to take the exam.
It is clearly mentioned in the Information Brochure that applications of candidates submitting false and fabricated information will not be considered, and such candidates will be further debarred from appearing in examinations conducted by the CBSE.
PaGaLGuY spoke to a CBSE NEET UG official about the situation. The official said, “Candidates must read the information brochure clearly, it is mentioned that they will get a chance to rectify their mistakes.”
The last date to register for NEET UG 2017 is March 1, after which CBSE will provide a one-time correction facility to aspirants. The official added, “CBSE will definitely address grievances but at the correct time. We will announce the period during which candidates can make correction of data in their online application form on the website.”
