The Central Board for Secondary Education is responsible for conducting the board exams for Class 10th and 12th students across all the schools affiliated with CBSE. With the exam time nearing, students and teachers are getting busy with preparation for the board exams. Most probably the Class 12th board exams will be conducted in the months of February and March 2020 for all streams, arts, commerce, and science.

The date sheet for the exams will be released in the month of December 2019 by the Central Board for Secondary Education. In order to help the Class 12th students prepare for the upcoming Chemistry board exams, CBSE has recently released the sample papers along with the marking scheme and answer keys for the subject.

These chemistry sample papers will give the students an accurate idea about the format of the exam and therefore must be attempted by all students appearing for the chemistry exam this year.

CBSE Chemistry Exam 2020: Important Information

Students who will be appearing for the chemistry exam during their class 12th boards must note the below-mentioned information: –

  • Duration of the exam –           3 hours
  • Total marks –           100 Marks (30 for practical and 70 for the written exam)

The chemistry question paper will be divided into four different sections A, B, C, and D. It is compulsory for the students to attempt all the questions featuring in the question paper. Students are allowed to use log tables if necessary, but calculators are strictly not allowed.

  • Section A: – 20 objective-type very short questions with each question carrying 1 mark.
  • Section B: – 7 short answer questions with each question carrying 2 marks.
  • Section C: – 7 long answer questions with each question carrying 3 marks.
  • Section D: – 3 long answer questions with each question carrying 5 marks.

Students who will appear for the CBSE Chemistry exam in 2020 should follow the below-mentioned tips during their preparations.

  • It is important to master all the concepts and information included in the NCERT textbook for chemistry. NCERT textbook is the most important study material for the board exams and all the questions last year were asked from the textbook only.
