Coalescence- a triad of conclaves at IIFM
Coalescence is an annual three day series of conclaves at IIFM, and is an opportunity to interact with the titans of the outside world, get exposed to the industry and learn from the real life experiences and great insight of various dignitaries who come from diversified sectors.
The first of the three conclaves is the CSR India Conclave conducted by the Communication Cell. This year’s theme was ‘CSR and Inclusive Growth’, and stalwarts like Ms. Aruna Sharma (IAS Officer -1982 batch, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner- Rural Development Department, Govt. of MP), Ms. Sonia Shrivastava (CSR Head for South Asia- Intel) and many more came and shared their views.
The second day belonged to ‘Daksh’ organised by the ‘Entrepreneurship Development Cell’ where eminent entrepreneurs share their experiences in their chosen field. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Skill Development: Nurturing, Equipping and Engaging’ and renowned personalities like Ms. Meera Shenoy (Senior Advisor, UNDP Youth skilling and Employment and Advisor, Development of North Eastern region (DoNER) and government of Bihar), Mr. Sameer Chaturvedi (CEO- Jaipur Rugs Foundation), Mr. Ajay Chaturvedi (Chairman of HarVa, Partner at SeedKapital, Director- JobConcierge.com, and Director-Convergent technologies) came to inspire with their tales of vision, struggle and success.
The third and the final day titled as ‘EnviroConclave’ is organised by the ‘Climate Change and Environment Core Competency Cell’ of the institute. As it is essential to create scope for new resources, reclaim those that have already been damaged, remediate those that are getting damaged and restore those, the sheer existence of which forms a basis of our own existence so this year’s theme was chosen as ‘Reclamation. Restoration and Remediation’ and dignitaries like Dr. N.H. Ravindranath (Professor -Centre for Sustainable Technologies, member –IPCC( Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change)), Dr. Promode Kant (former member of the Indian Forest Service, UNFCCC expert on afforestation/reforestation during 2004-2005) came to enlighten the students regarding the concerned issues.
All the tasks starting up with deciding the theme, list of speakers, contacting them, raising funds, event management, promotion and hospitality are taken care by the students themselves. The student community works day and night together to take care of all the arrangements and to deliver a three day experience of brilliant intellectual discourse. The journey to this grand event is completed by the students successfully by converting the whole painstaking process into an opportunity of working together with each other and spending time together. This year also the students from both PFM-14 and PFM-15 batches as well as M. Phil and FPM students came together to put forward a splendid display of their talents to culminate Coalescence’ 13 with success and taking it to new heights.
