1. 
India & China inked 24 agreements

i. India and China today signed a record 24 agreements in key sectors, including in railways and education.

ii. The 24 agreements signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang in Beijing.

iii. An action plan between the Indian Railways and China National Railways on enhancing cooperation in the railway sector was also signed.

Some agreements signed between India and China is as follows

i. A MoU on education exchange programme and ‘Space Cooperation Outline’ .

ii. Four agreements were signed on sister-state and sister-city relations between Karnataka and Sichuan province; Chennai and Chongqing; Hyderabad and Qingdao; and Aurangabad and Dunhuang.

iii. An agreement on setting up a Mahatma Gandhi skill centre in Ahmedabad.

iv. A broadcast tie-up for Doordarshan and China’s state-run CCTV.

v. Protocol for establishment of consulates in Chengdu and Chennai vi. Agreements on education exchange programme, on mining and minerals, skill development, tourism and vocational education also figured on the list.

vii. Two MoUs between Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Yunnan Minzu University and another with Fudan University were signed on the establishment of a yoga college and centre for Gandhian and Indian studies, respectively.

viii. Other key agreements are on developing China India think-tanks, maritime cooperation and ocean sciences.

2. India, China launch forum for cooperation at provincial level

i. India and China have institutionalised bilateral cooperation at the provincial level. This is for the first time that India has launched such a Forum with any country.

ii. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese Premier Le Keqiang launched the State and Provincial Leaders’ Forum in Beijing today.

iii. Prime Minister Modi said, that in future, this will become one of the most important instruments for deepening economic partnership and contact between the two countries.

iv. From Indian side, Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Gujarat Chief Minister and from the Chinese side, several provincial leaders participated in the forum

3. China to invest USD 50 bn in Brazilian infrastructure projects

i. China is planning to invest up to 50 billion dollar in Brazil for new infrastructure projects. ii. The investment will be help in building a railway link from Brazil’s Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast of Peru to reduce the cost of exports to China. Beijing said the fund will also finance a joint venture to produce steel.

iii. Brazil currently exports much of its iron ore to China.

iv. The deal is due to be signed by banks from both countries during a visit by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to Brazil next week.

4. Arun Shrivastava appointed MD & CEO of Syndicate Bank i. Arun Shrivastava has been appointed as the new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Syndicate Bank.

ii. Earlier he was the Executive Director of Bank of India.

5. Renowned  Guitarist, Blues legend B.B. King passed away

i. Renowned Guitarist, Blues legend B.B. King has passed away in Las Vegas at age 89, his lawyer Brent Bryson said.

ii. He was awarded his 15th Grammy in 2009 in the traditional blues album category for “One Kind Favor.”

iii. He was known for his hits My Lucille, Sweet Little Angel and Rock Me Baby, died in his sleep in Las Vegas.

iv. Once ranked as the third greatest guitarist
of all time, he had been suffering ill health in recent months.
