1. India enter into quarter – finals of  ICC WC

i. India defeated West Indies in a low score match by 4 wickets in a Pool – B match and enter into the quarter- finals of 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.

ii. West Indies set the target of 183 runs against India.

iii. MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 45 runs helped Indian to reach the target in 39.1 overs and ensure their fourth consecutive win in the tournament.

West Indies – 182/10 (44.2)   India – 185/6 (39.1)      India won by 4 wickets 

2. India lowest among 16 Asia-Pacific countries in economic parity for
women

i. According to the Mastercard’s latest Index of Women’s
Advancement, India is the lowest among 16 Asia Pacific countries in economic parity for women.

ii.  Indian women
stand even lower than their counterparts from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the
survey said.

iii. India (44.2), Bangladesh (44.6) and Sri Lanka
(46.2) had scores below 50, indicating that much more needs to be done to
achieve gender parity.

iv. Across the region, New Zealand had the
highest overall Index score of 77, followed by Australia (76), the Philippines
(72.6) and Singapore (70.5).

v. A score under 100 indicates gender
inequality in favour of males while a score above 100 indicates inequality in
favour of females. A score of 100 indicates equality between the sexes.

3. Muthoot Finance bags award

i. Muthoot Finance has bagged MoneyGram’s ‘Best
Sub-Agent in South Asian Region’ for the third consecutive year.

ii. Muthoot
Finance’s money transfer service is recognised as the largest payout centre in
India with two million transfers being executed annually.

iii. With 20
lakh transactions worth Rs. 3,500 crore across all its
branches last year, the service continues to grow at a rapid rate, a statement
issued here said.

4. G Karthikeyan speaker of Kerala Assemble died

i. Speaker of
Kerala Assembly passed away today at at a hospital in Bengaluru.

ii. He was suffering
from liver cancer.

iii. He was elected
speaker of Kerala Assembly for six times. He was 66 and is survived by his
wife, a retired college professor, and two sons.

5. Saina enter into the
semi-final of
All England Championships

i. Saina Nehwal defeated  Wang Yihan  of China to sailed into the All England
Championships semifinal.

ii.
She will now face another
Chinese Sun Yu in the last-four stage.
