Economic Times ranks IMT Ghaziabad among top 7 business schools in India

The Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad is increasingly being recognized by recruiters, as one of Indias top-10 business schools. A recent Economic Times survey covering 500 of Indias largest companies saw IMT-G ranked number seven, with areas covered being marketing, IT, HR, finance and production. A key factor behind this prime ranking is the schools aim to match recruiters requirements with students aspirations, along with IMTs philosophy of encouraging students to follow their passion rather than just pursue a pay cheque.

As Dr. Bibek Banerjee, director and academic mentor at IMT said: My vision for IMT is to continually re-invent education to stay relevant to stakeholders through innovations in experiential learning and co-create a strong culture of research with bright young minds from around the world. We will do whatever it takes to create sensitive, intelligent and ethical leaders.

Dr. Banerjee added: Today we are number seven and that is a huge achievement. With every achievement comes growth. IMT Ghaziabad is all about introspection, improvement and innovation. He further said that the ET ranking stands testimony to the team effort of all the faculty, officers and staff of IMT, a b-school which follows the motto we do.

IMTs Ivy League standing, and the schools philosophy, are supported by its placement record.

Prakash Pathak, head of placement, said the institute had more than 1,000 corporate recruiters on board and the list was growing. You will find the best of companies on our list. This year we even had Goldman Sachs and P&G; recruit from our campus. Of the recruiters 70 per cent are repeat recruiters, he said, confirming the fact IMT is a fertile ground for companies looking at employing serious talent that is job-ready.

For 2010, almost 300 students were placed with companies as: Goldman Sachs, Procter & Gamble, JP Morgan, Deloitte, Reckitt Benckiser, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Citigroup, Airtel, Vodafone, GE, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Reserve Bank of India, Bacardi, Tata Consultancy Services, Panasonic, Whirlpool, Accenture, Wrigleys, CRISIL, Amrop and Ernst & Young.

These students were offered jobs in various sectors such as FMCGs, consultancies, BFSI, market research, manufacturing, consumer durables, consulting, pharmaceutical, IT and ITES, oil and gas, services and telecom, among others.

IMT students have been recruited for niche profiles such as brand managers, software delivery managers, analysts, credit and equity analysts and research associates. Other successful appointments include relationship managers, business managers, key account managers, along with rewarding positions in consulting, investment banking and advisory services, to name but a few.

These are prime posts paying prime rates as can be seen from the Post Graduate Degree in Management batch for 2009-11 where:

1.The highest international CTC offered has been Rs. 26 lakh per annum.

2.The highest domestic CTC offered has been Rs. 15 lakh per annum.

3.The average CTC for the FT Batch was Rs. 8.63 lakh per annum.

4.The average CTC of the top 55 percentile IMT graduates was Rs. 9.50 lakh

per annum.

And these placement statistics are ones you can count on. IMT Ghaziabad has earned the Highest A * * * from Credit Rating and Information Services of India Ltd. (CRISIL) and was one of the first b-schools in India to wholeheartedly adopt the India Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) process, setting a new benchmark in management education and establishing itself as a leader in bringing about transparency, honesty and consistency in the reporting of placements figures by MBA institutes.

Backing up these impressive facts are the comments of students.

Nimesh Gupta, a student of IMT Ghaziabad says: IMT-Ghaziabad is one of the best institutions in the country. The opportunities available here are enormous. It has one of the best exchange programs. The brand value that IMT holds is very strong. The faculty is among the most renowned and the alumni base is huge.

He got a summer internship at Absolute Data-Research and Analytics one of the leading firms in market research and analytics, working in the Client Groups team to solve business problems for

clients and give them richer insights to make better decisions.

Every year, traditional recruiters and new companies head for the campus, impressed with the talent IMT Ghaziabad repeatedly produces. The institute recognizes the changing times, explores fresh avenues and invites innovative companies.
