Feast Your Eyes: First Prize Winners of PaGaLGuY B-school Photography Contest 2011

Yes I hear you. It is indeed high time we declared the PaGaLGuY B-school Photography Contest results. Here we go.

The Four First Prizes first! (Second Prize Winners here)

Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak — By Krishna Jayadev

Camera: Canon 500D

A beautiful evening shot outside the campus building. The laptop light used to illuminate the model’s face has just the perfect intensity and makes the photo come alive.

Institute of Management, Nirma University — By Vikram Kumar

Camera: Nokia C3-01 (mobile phone)

A relaxed moment between a game at IMNU with a basketball in mid-air. Captures the essence of life at this campus without being too loud.

TA Pai Management Institute, Manipal — by Krishna Chaitanya

Camera: Nikon D3100

A beautiful night shot on the TAPMI campus with a couple’s silhouette as the subject. The light in the picture is perfect.

Indian Institute of Management, Indore — By Kaushlendra Singh

Camera: Nikon D300

The gentleman in yellow takes the prize for the best jump. The photo gets a prize for a perfectly-lighted motion shot portraying the gravity-defying life on the IIM Indore campus.

This year, after we uploaded all the entries on the Facebook albums, we were apprised of an oversight. It so happened that a few of the photography entries had not reached us for some reason, or had landed up in our mailbox’s spam folder leading us to miss them. These entries therefore did not make their way to Mr Mukesh Parpiani and Dr Deepak John Mathew, the contest judges.

The missed entries were mailed to us again last week and we figured that it’d only be fair to give them a chance in the competition. So we at PGHQ laid them out and decided to have a bonus prize for the best picture among these entries. And here is the winner.

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad — by Abhijeet Singh

Camera: Nikon D90

Seizes the free-spirited culture of MICA into a moment. The lady dancing, the rain and the greenery makes the photo dripping with life. The sky is a little overexposed, though.

Incidentally, Abhijeet Singh won a prize in last year’s contest too. This is his entry from last year.

Phenomenal job, Vikram Kumar, Krishna Chaitanya, Kaushlendra Singh, Krishna Jayadev and Abhijeet Singh! Each of you gets a Vanguard Backpack for your DSLR cameras (or an equivalent value pocket camera bag) worth Rs 2,300 each! We will get in touch with you over the next week to explain how to get the prizes.

Please congratulate the winners!

A special thank you to the judges Mr Mukesh Parpiani and Dr Deepak John Mathew for judging the contest. Both of them are pro photographers and you should see their work on their Flickr streams — Mukesh Parpiani and Dr Deepak John Mathew.
