FMS Delhi – MBA Programme Eligibility Criteria and other Details

FMS – Faculty of Management Studies was established in 1954. It is located at New Delhi and is affiliated by the University of Delhi. The college intends to produce good business executives who are fully committed to work. It has the best faculties and has collaborated with many other institutes all over the world. FMS provides Executive MBA, MBA, and doctoral programmes. Courses Offered:

  1. MBA Full Time:

MBA is a two-year full-time course designed with an objective of developing young generation into highly skillful professional executives, capable of working in varied sectors, continuously determined for excellence in performance while contributing to the welfare of the society at large and propagating thought management. The prospectus of the continuously evolving MBA involves providing a sturdy analytical foundation in vital functional areas and the other, facilitating a high degree of educational capability, so allowing the students to customize their experience in MBA.

Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidates should have completed a Bachelor’s degree in any recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks at graduation level or equivalent.
  • The candidates belonging to OBC/ CW/ PWD categories the minimum cutoff will be 45% and for ST/ SC candidates minimum passing marks is required.
  • The candidates appearing for the final year examination of Bachelor’s degree can also apply for it, provided, they should submit their final year mark sheet during the admission time.

Short-listing of the candidates for Personal Interview:

During the short-listing of candidates for the Interview process, the weight-ages for CAT scores will be provided for sections by QA- 30%, DI/ LR- 30% and VRC- 40%. In the case for the women candidates, an additional of 3 marks will be added to the composite score for the purpose of short-listing and the composite score will be used only for short-listing of the candidates for the interview process.

Admission Merit List:

After the shortlisting is done, the admissions for the course will be based on CAT scores, Class X & XII scores, Group Discussion, Extempore speech, and Personal Interview. The weight-age for drawing the merit list for final selection is as follows:

  • CAT scores- 60%
  • Class X scores- 5%
  • Class XII scores- 5%
  • Group Discussion- 10%
  • Extempore speech- 5%
  • Personal Interview- 15%

An important point to note is that the candidates who have not taken CAT exams will not be considered for the admission process.

The candidates must submit their necessary original documents and mark sheets during the time of the interview process.

The final list of the selected candidates will be announced after completion of the entire admission process of all the candidates.

  1. MBA Executive & MBA Executive (Health Care Administration) Programmes:

The modular design of the two year evening MBA Executive and MBA Executive (Health Care Administration) builds a strong foundation in the fundamental areas of management and permits the students to focus in functional areas of their interest. At present, the MBA Executive course has an intake of 159 students and MBA Executive (Health Care Administration) course has an intake of 39 students.

Eligibility criteria for MBA Executive Programme:

  • The candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any of the recognized university with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks or equivalent in any discipline.
  • The candidates must have a mandatory of at least 5 years of work experience at the administration or executive level as on April 01, of the year of admission.
  • The candidates must produce a No Objection Certificate or sponsored to follow from his/ her present company.

Eligibility criteria for MBA Executive (Health Care Administration) Programme:

  • The candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBBS)/ Biotechnology/ Dentistry (BDDS)/ Genomics/ Nursing/ Pharmacology/ Zoology/ Anthropology/ Alternative Systems of Discipline/ Bioengineering/ Paramedical Discipline/ Genetics with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks or equivalent in any of the mentioned disciplines from a recognized university.
  • The candidates should have at least five years experience as an administrative or executive level as on April 01, of the year of admission.
  • The candidates must produce a No Objection Certificate or sponsored to follow from his/ her present company.

Admission Procedure:

The admission for the courses will be done on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Academic qualification: maximum marks is 20

For every 5% marks over and above 40% marks subject to a maximum of 20 marks, extra 2 marks will be provided.

  • Executive Experience: maximum marks is 20

For every one year of complete experience beyond 5 years experience subject to a maximum of 20 marks, 2 marks will be provided.

  • General Ability Test: maximum marks is 30

It is mandatory for the candidates to take a test on General Awareness and Management Aptitude according to the Date & Time announced by the FMS.

  • Extempore Speech: maximum marks is 15 marks

It will be conducted individually by the university for all the candidates.

  • Personal Interview: it will contain a maximum of 15 marks.

During the time of the interview, the candidates must justify all the requirements such as qualification, reservation, experience and grade conversion. The candidates must submit their necessary original documents and mark sheets during the time of the interview process. The scheme and programme structure of the courses might change after the due process followed at the university.

  1. Doctoral Programme: (Ph. D)

The full-time doctoral programme is offered at the FMS. It provides an opportunity to take on original and pioneering in different areas and aspects of management with importance on practical inferences of research. The course is designed to supplement academic and practical knowledge. The faculty persuades the candidates to undertake research in interdisciplinary areas of management, cutting across functional and sectoral boundaries.

The maximum intake of students for the doctoral programme is 30. The faculty might also decide not to fill all the available if suitable candidates of adequate number are not available. The students will be selected on the basis of Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Management of Information Technology, Strategic Management, Management Science, Production & Operations Management, and Managerial Economics.
