Academics at FLAME

FLAME was founded with the concept of liberal education as its cornerstone. FLAME strives to deliver an academic experience that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thought process, self-reflection, leadership and teamwork skills, a sense of commitment and professionalism along with sensitivity to ones socio-cultural environment. FLAME aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform of education that doesnt just teach, but enlightens by propagating different models and paradigms through, but not limited to, history, philosophy, political sciences, psychology, business, economics, creative arts, sports, media, mathematics and finance. FLAME comprises of four schools – FLAME School of Liberal Education, FLAME School of Business, FLAME School of Communication and FLAME School of Performing Arts.

The distinction

Learning at FLAME is not restricted to the indoors. Our distinct pedagogy encourages the case study methodology and research based projects in contrast to just rote learning. FLAME’s eclectic curriculum gives its students a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, share experiences and view the world from different perspectives. Workshops that teach social skills and values of life are an integral part of the curriculum and participation in sports activities ensures a holistic development.

The FLAME School of Business program

FLAME School of Business offers a two-year AICTE approved fully residential PGDM program which includes an 8 – week summer internship and draws its faculty from the best national and international professionals. FLAME School of Business has received a National A* grade from CRISIL and various awards at the Bloomberg UTV B-School Awards. FLAME School of Business has extensive linkages with the industry that aids its students to get excellent placements. In the past, companies like Infosys, TCS, E&Y, Deloitte, Americana Group, BNP Paribas, ENAM Securities, Future Group, HDFC, L&T, National Stock Exchange and Reliance Mutual Fund, amongst others have participated in our placement process.

First year courses are primarily divided into Core and Global Elective courses. Core courses are mandatory. They cover all areas of management: Finance, Operations, Marketing, Human Resources, Economics, Statistics and Accounting. Global Electives comprise courses in foreign languages, creative arts, humanities, social sciences and sports for a holistic development of the students. During the second year, the students choose a major in which they plan to specialize.

Activities at FSB

FLAME believes in keeping students engaged at all times – with not just academics, but extra-curricular activities as well. Activities that help them become well-rounded individuals. Some of the activities conducted are: FLAME Investment Lab, Axis Capital Investor Conference and competitions like CFA Institute Investment Research Challenge.

The FLAME Investment Lab

FLAME Investment Lab (FIL), is an initiative that strives to deliver the concepts of value investing to interested students. FIL believes that one needs to follow a well-articulated process of investing that has discipline and self-control, in order to become a successful investor. As such, FIL aims to provide tools to students that will aid them in making investment decisions by covering topics like valuation, accounting shenanigans, investment checklists and mental heuristics amongst others. In the past, eminent investors like Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Ramesh Damani, Madusudan Kela, Raamdeo Agrawal, Sunil Singhania, and Parag Parikh amongst others have addressed students.

FLAME’s infrastructure

FLAME’s campus spans across 75-acres. In addition to classrooms and conference rooms, its academic spaces include a performing arts studio, a visual arts studio, a language lab; physics, chemistry & biology labs; an anthropology lab and amphitheatres. FLAME has cafes and guesthouses for its faculty, residential facility for the students, 24 hours internet connectivity, provision and book store, photocopying facilities; laundromat, infirmary, ambulance and bus services. Outdoor facilities include an international size cricket and football ground; badminton, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; table tennis, swimming pool and access to a golf course and horse riding facilities.

Scholarships

FLAME School of Business strives to attract the best and brightest students across the country by offering scholarships. The scholarship may range from partial to full tuition fee waivers. The final internal scores in the admission process is the primary consideration for scholarships.
