GAIL (India) Limited was incorporated in August 1984 as a Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG). The company was initially given the responsibility of construction, operation & maintenance of the Hazira – Vijaypur – Jagdishpur (HVJ) pipeline Project. It was one of the largest cross-country natural gas pipeline projects in the world. Originally this 1800 Km long pipeline was built at a cost of Rs 1700 Crores and it laid the foundation for development of market for natural Gas in India.

Age limit: The upper age limit for the position of Senior Engineer (Instrumentation), Senior Officer (Marketing), Senior Officer (Law) and Senior Officer (CC) is 40 years as on 11.01.2016. The upper age limit for the position of Senior Superintendent (Hindi), Senior Accountant, Senior Superintendent (HR) and Senior Chemist is 50 years as on 11.01.2016 while the upper age limit for the position of Foreman (Mechanical), Foreman (Electrical) and Foreman (Instrumentation) is 42 years as on 11.01.2016. The upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories.

Method of selection : The selection of the candidates will depend upon their performance in group discussion and/or personal interview for the positions of Senior Engineer (Instrumentation), Senior Officer (Marketing), Senior Officer (Law) and Senior Officer (CC). For the positions of f Senior Superintendent (Hindi), Senior Accountant and Senior Superintendent (HR) the selection procedure is computer proficiency test and /or personal interview. The Senior Chemist position will be selected on the basis of personal interview only. The selection of the candidates will depend upon their performance in skill test and personal interview for the position of Foreman (Mechanical), Foreman (Electrical) and Foreman (Instrumentation).
