So this was my last interview for the season and since it was an IIT it was bound to be a little different from the others.
The process was a two-step process, first a written ability test followed by a PI.
WAT: Should doctors be allowed to strike. Wrote a very detailed essay but could not conclude in the desired manner because of lack of space.
PI: The panel had 3 people. 2 female professors and 1 male alumni.
F1: Please introduce yourself.
Me: Introduced myself. Had mentioned singing as one of my hobbies
F1: What is the relation between the length of a guitar’s string and its amplitude?
Me: I do not play guitar, uttered some gibberish.
F1: Can you explain on paper?
Me: No, I do not recall.
M: Discussed my essay.
Me: Answered as per my beliefs and he looked satisfies.
M: Something about my CSR and community service.
Me: Explained.
F2: Can I ask you maths?
Me: yes
F2: What is standard deviation?
Me: Answered
F2: Find it for a data set.
Me: Solved the set and found the SD.
F2: Why is variance squared?
Me: Dumb and Dead.
F2: 4 things you would do if you were CM?
Me: Security, Leverage technology, focus on employment and expedited action against criminals, ensure friendly police force so that people are able to approach the police without fear.
F1: Do you have any questions?
Me: IIT’s are known to be ops heavy, what is the scene when it comes to other specializations?
M: Answered something, I nodded.
