The IIFT exam for MBA courses is known to have a different question and even a different question pattern every year. The IIFT exam usually has the number of questions ranging from 120-150. The IIFT exam of 2018 had a total of 114 questions.
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade exam is known for its difficulty level. IIFT 2018 was termed to be very difficult compared to the exam in 2017. IIFT changed the number of sections from 4 to six in this year’s examination. The six sections being: General awareness, English Usage, Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Data interpretation, and Quantitative Aptitude. The exam does not have a sectional time limit.
In the 2018 IIFT paper the general awareness section was just as difficult as last years. The English usage and the reading comprehension sections were more difficult than the 2017 question paper. Even the quantitative ability and the logical reasoning section were more difficult than the previous year’s paper. In all only the data interpretation section could be easy.
It will be hard to score in this year’s IIFT exam and clear the cut off required for the admission in the colleges one requires. In all the cut off is expected to be around 29-31 for general category and 25 for OBC category and 25 for ST as well. So, the total cut off will be 5-6 marks less than the last years.

The IIFT 2018 paper was conducted on the 2nd of December 2018. The exam is still conducted in the paper and pen, offline mode. This makes getting the previous year question paper for practice a little easier. The students can otherwise practice by solving many mock tests given by different classes. The greater number of mock tests one solves the more used to the questions one can be. If one can solve the questions quickly and without any problem, the candidate can expect to score very high marks. As the years go by the competition and the difficulty level of papers is increasing. The more people appearing for the exam the harder it is to score good marks in the exam. The cut off changes depending on how every candidate has performed in the exam. The candidates should expect a slight variation in the cut off marks this year.
According to the analysis by T.I.M.E. the exam has termed that this year’s difficulty level may surprise a few students. The last years IIFT paper was termed to be more difficult than last year’s CAT question paper. This had surprised many people and had created a havoc in the minds of the students as the cut off would be depending on them.

Category wise the cut off for IIFT 2019 should differ as given below.
- General – 38-40
- OBC – 33-35
- SC – 28-20
- ST – 20-22
Compared to the previous year’s papers the cut off has gone down 5-6 marks only.

The candidates can expect a very tough competition and will probably have a very hard time scoring as high marks as possible in the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade examination of 2019. As the years go by the difficulty level is only going to increase and cause more problem for the students applying for the admissions in the MBA and IB courses in the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade New Delhi and the Kolkata campus.
