How to prepare for GS Paper II (CSAT) in UPSC Civil Services prelims

CS prelims is just 4 months away and in all probability, CSAT will be there (In case, it is not, still questions from CSAT paper II will be integrated in paper I). 4 months are more than sufficient to prepare for CSAT and get about 65-70% marks. Here are a few steps of how to approach the preparation for paper II.

1) Form a list of all important topics by seeing past papers. In all there are not more than 25-30 core topics covering 90% of syllabus

2) Clear your basic concepts – Even before you start looking at questions, find the best way to do these questions. Take whole 1 month to clear your basic fundas. No point practicing without a solid base.

3) Maximize your effort in your strong areas: Figure out your strong area and maximize your attempts in those areas. Also, try to minimize the mistakes

4) Strengthen your weak areas: Work on your weak areas each day. If RC is your weak area, see what is bothering you there

5) Start taking topic wise tests

6) Start taking mocks only if you are confident about all your concepts

Ideally, you should devote 1 hour on daily basis from today till July 31. All the syllabus can be easily covered in this time.
