IIFT 2012 Entrance Test on Nov 25, last date for applying Sep 3

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi and Kolkata announced the dates for its entrance test to the flagship MBA in International Business (IB) program for the academic year 2013-15. While the entrance test is scheduled to be held on November 25, 2012 between 10 am and 12 pm, the last date for the sale of prospectus through post is August 20, 2012, and the last date for submitting the online application ( http://iift.datatec.co.in ) is September 3, 2012.

According to Gaurav Gulati, IIFT’s admissions in-charge, there will be no changes in the admission process to the institute for this year. The institute offers a total of 281 seats, with 231 seats at the Delhi campus and 50 seats at the Kolkata campus. While last year a total of 47,000 candidates had appeared for the test, a total of 987 candidates had been shortlisted to appear for the interview round of admissions at the institute.

The two-hour exam will be conducted across twenty cities. The final selection of the students will be done on the basis of their performance in the written test, group discussions, essay writing and personal interview. Common group discussions, essay writing and personal interviews for both the Delhi and Kolkata campuses will be conducted across seven cities namely Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Lucknow.

Gulati added that based on the scores achieved by the candidates, three lists will be released by the institute, namely the lists for Delhi and Kolkata and an additional waiting list. “If any candidates from the Delhi list decide against joining the institute, candidates from the Kolkata list will be shifted to the Delhi list. Consequently, the gaps created in the Kolkata list will be filled in by candidates whose names are mentioned in the waiting list,” Gulati told PaGaLGuY.

So far, no changes in the IIFT exam pattern have been declared by the institute. However, the committee that will set the 2012 chapter of the IIFT exam has been formed and any changes decided by the committee will be shared with applicants, Gaurav said. Last year, the exam question paper comprised of 120 question divided into six sections namely Quantitative Ability, Reading Comprehension, English Usage, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning and General Awareness.
