Indian Institute of Technology, Indore

Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IITI) is located in Madhya Pradesh and was established by the Government of India in 2009. The institution started functioning from 2009-10 on a temporary campus at Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilyabai University. The foundation of the permanent campus was laid on 17th February 2009 at Simrol, about 25 km from the city of Indore. It is spread over an area of around 510-acre (2.1 sq.km). It is expected to be functional by the end of 2015.

Presently, IIT Indore is functioning from two locations: first one at IET-DAVV Campus (Khandwa Road) and another at PACL Campus (Hardnia Khedi Village, Indore-MHOW Road). The IET-DAVV Campus included the Materials Management section and Finance and Accounts Section. The School of Basic Sciences and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences are also functioning from this campus. There are various basic sciences labs established in this campus. The School of Engineering is functioning at PACL campus. There are various engineering labs are established in this campus. The Central Library is located in both the campuses. There are two hostels with 40 flats and 20 cottages.

Academics at IITI

The virtual classroom in IIT Indore is a part of the National Knowledge Network launched by Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Kapil Sibal. It has features such as live video streaming presentations, shared internet access, virtual whiteboard, a media centre, application, file and desktop sharing and public and private text chat. B.Tech degrees are awarded in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. IITI has the following Schools:

Extra-Curricular Activities

Fluxus the cultural-cum-technical festival at IIT Indore is held in February while Ferocia the sports festival is held in December. Inter hostel and college competitions are organized to test the innovativeness of the students. “The Road to Rutas” is a techno-management industry simulation competition hosted at IIT Indore every year wherein participating teams are invited to play the role of companies bidding for a tender, in a virtual setting.
