IMI: Application rise by 80%

After witnessing a phenomenal jump of 80% in the number of applications this year, IMI has kick started with its interview process for all its three campuses- New Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. IMI has increased the overall CAT cut off to 92 percentile as compared to 90 percentile last year for PGDM Delhi. The sectional cut off for verbal has also been raised to 70 percentile as compared to 65 percentile last year.

There has not been any change in the criteria for the PGDHRM program in Delhi. The minimum overall CAT percentile at 85, while for quant and verbal sections, the required percentile is 60 and 65, respectively. For GMAT, the minimum cut-off is 600.

IMI took the lead in introducing some robust processes across its evaluation and selection criteria. These interventions are aimed at giving a fair chance to all the students irrespective of their CAT score.

These interventions include doing away with the GD round and using psychometric tools, essay writing, extempore and a personal interview to evaluate the candidates. These rounds would assess the candidates on their emotional quotient to know if they are sensitive enough to themselves and their environment in order to be shaped into holistic managers in the future. This is important because the best leaders are those who are sensitive to their environment and not the ones who work in a silo. To conduct these rounds and to assess the students not only does IMI involve its distinguished faculty, but also people from the corporate sector.

IMI has been constantly going up the ranking charts where this year it ranks at number 4 in Intellectual Capital and at number 7 in overall rankings of Money Control, a part of the CNN-IBN television network group. IMI has been awarded the ‘Best Curriculum’ award by ‘Amar Ujala’ B-school Excellence awards and the ‘B-school with best industry related curriculum in HRM’ in recent rankings. AIMA (All India Management Association) has ranked it in the ‘Super League’ b-schools at a stretch consecutively for the past two years and ‘Business World’ has ranked it at number three in intellectual capital.

The summer placements at IMI have been very good despite the slowdown in the economy. Industry majors in their respective sectors varying from Banking, Consulting, and Manufacturing to IT and Media have visited the campus and offered internships with profiles ranging in specializations in the area of Finance, Marketing and Sales, Consulting, Strategy, HR, Information Management, and Operations. The PGDMHR Batch of 2012-2014 had the best summer placements this year ever since the inception of the course.

These developments and innovative practices not only differentiate IMI from other B schools but also make it the best choice for MBA aspirants.
