Independence Day Debate Hosted by the Literary Society of ISB&M Pune
With a vision to create a platform for public speaking, International School Of Business & Media decided to introduce a national level event hosted within its fortress. The Independence Day Debate organized by the Literary Society is a trademark event organized with the motive to create a pedestal for prominent public speakers countrywide. The event was open to all B-Schools and corporates across India.
The topic for the debate was “Arnab Goswami is the Donald Trump of Indian Media”. A topic which included two of the most talked-of iconic media and political figures, attracted interests from some of the top B-Schools in the country, including XLRI (Jamshedpur), Welingkar (Mumbai), IIM (Amritsar), etc.
The judging panel included an iconic entrepreneur and a well known media figure – Mr. S Swaminathan, who had completed his Masters from Yale University and is currently the CEO of India’s leading XBRL company, Iris Business Services Limited. The panel also hosted Mr. Max Fernandes, a behavioral trainer and Ms. Stephanie D’sa, a content editor with SourceHOV.
The participants, both from the treasury and the opposition put forth some mind-boggling arguments to support their stance and belief about the two well-known figures in their respective industry and post a tremendous battle of the words it was the home team, International School of Business & Media, represented by Abhishek Mishra and Sneha Kapoor that was recognized as the Best College and Best Team through the contest.
Maansi Patil from Welingkars Institute bagged the award for the Best Speaker while Ankit Mishra from M.M. Law School (Pune) bagged the runner-up position.
In the approach to make a literary remark, this was one of the few small strides taken by the organizing cell – Debate Club, to venture into the art of public speaking and rejecting all fears that sometimes become a prominent emotion, to those that face an audience in numbers.
