Dr Kavita Laghate
The Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai has a new captain on board. Dr. Kavita Laghate, the newly appointed director, has taken over the reins of the institute from Dr. Stephen D’Silva who served from 2009-2012. Dr. Laghate assumed charge of her office from August 1, 2012.
PaGaLGuY did manage to speak to the new director, however since she had just assumed office, she said she would detail her plans later.
According to officials at JBIMS, Dr Laghate, at the moment is busy acquainting herself with the new batch of students which has just joined and also in lengthy discussions with the second-year students on new strategies. Among other things, she wants to streamline internal processes at the institute.
Dr. Laghate is a BSc and MSc (Statistics) and has done her PhD with areas of specialisation in statistics, operations research, quantitative models, and research methods. She had joined the institute in 2005 and had been working as an associate professor.
