JoSAA 2016: How to use the withdraw option?

Candidates who do not want to accept a seat allotted under
the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) process can exercise the Withdraw
option.

For exercising withdraw option, candidates should do the following:

Candidates will have to fill-in the Bank Account
details to which the seat acceptance fee is to be refunded and upload an image
of cancelled cheque of the same account in JPG format. (Link to be made
available on JoSAA portal.)

Subsequently, candidates will have to download
the withdrawal request letter.

The withdrawal request letter is to be signed by
the candidate and his/her parents.

In order to complete the withdrawal, candidate
must report at a reporting centre with the withdrawal request letter to vacate
the seat. Unless candidates report at the reporting centre and submit the
letter, seats accepted by such candidates will continue in their names.

JoSAA conducts a total of four rounds of seat allocation. The
option of withdrawing closes before the last round of seat allocation. Candidates
can withdraw up until during third round of seat acceptance period. Candidates
cannot under any circumstances withdraw an accepted/allotted seat after the
last round of seat allocation is announced.

Fee Refund

Once the withdraw option is exercised, candidates are not
considered for subsequent rounds of seat allotment. Seat acceptance fee, which
students pay during the registration process, is refunded after deducting the
processing charges of Rs 1000/-.
