MICAT test is basically organised by MICA Institute to take admission in Post-Graduation Diploma in Management-Communications (PGDM-C) which is equivalent to an MBA. To take admission in MICAT, it is mandatory for the candidate to appear in CAT, GMAT OR XAT. MICAT is held twice in a year.
MICA conducted MICAT I on December 2, 2018, so here we bring MICAT I 2018 analysis which will give you a brief idea about the exam pattern, difficulty of exam and cut-off.
EXAM PATTERN
There were three section of the paper:

Section C
1. Section A – This section is called the Psychometric test having 35 questions. Duration for this section was 25 minutes. In this section, you will see some tricky questions and therefore it needs good attention. This time the difficulty level of this section was moderate to hard. This test is meant to judge the candidate’s personal ability and that’s the only reason that there is no negative marking for this section. All questions should be attended mandatorily in this section.
2. Section B – This section had to be completed in 1 hour and 45 minutes. It had 0.25 negative marking for each wrong answer. This section is divided into four parts.
- Convergent and Divergent Reasoning – This section had 30 questions. The level of difficulty was from easy to moderate for this section. 14-16 is an ideal attempt if 85% accuracy is to be maintained. Expected cut-off will be around 11-12 marks.
- General Awareness – This section was consisting of 25 questions. The level of difficulty for this section was from moderate to tough. The questions came from various topics like general Current affairs, International topics, Politics, Sports, Important personalities etc. Not even a single question was asked from taglines. 9-11 is an ideal attempt if 90% accuracy is maintained. Expected cut-off will be around 7-8 marks.
- Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation – This section had 25 questions. The difficulty level of this section was moderate to hard, some tricky questions were there. This section was way tougher than the quant on CAT Exam. 8-10 is an ideal attempt if 90% accuracy is to be maintained. Expected cut-off will be around 7-8 marks.
- Verbal Ability-This section had 25 questions. The difficulty level of this section was easy. Reading comprehension, fill in the blanks, Sentence corrections, Synonyms and Antonyms were some topics from questions were asked. 18-20 is an ideal attempt if 90% accuracy is to be maintained. The expected cut-off of this section will be around 15-16 marks.
3. Section C –
This section is called Descriptive Writing. There were 4 questions in the section and 35 minutes given to attempt. There is no negative marking for this section.
Creative writing had the pictures line up of cars, blood cells, the wall beside a dead tree, and an emoji.
Argument writing had 3 questions, on the topic “Equality is a myth”. The third question in this part was asked: “How can you achieve Equality”. First, two asked to write for and against the topic.
An ideal length for creative writing will be 200-250 words, 3 points of 20-25 words for the first answer of argument writing and 100-150 words for the third answer of argument.
Overall MICAT Exam l 2018 difficulty level was moderate to hard. A 55+ score is good to get the call with 70-78% in CAT/XAT/GMAT
MICAT Exam ll 2019 – All the candidates shortlisted based on their performance in CAT/GMAT/XAT and MICAT Exam l shall appear in both Group Exercise and personal interview. Here are the criteria for MICAT Exam ll.
- The qualifier of this exam is Section A of MICAT (Psychometric test).
- Those who qualify in the Psychometric test, their relative performance on CAT/GMAT/XAT will be considered. Candidates clearing a minimum cut-off in CAT/GMAT/XAT shall be considered.
- Those who qualify in the above-given criteria their Section B of MICAT will be assessed.
- Those who qualify Section B of MICAT, their Section C of MICAT will be assessed.
- Those who qualify on the basis of a,b,c and d shall be considered for shortlisting for Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI). GE and PI candidate list is prepared on the combined score formula of 50% CAT/GMAT/XAT and 50% MICAT scores.
