The Military Nursing Services is a part of the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). The personnel of AFMS provide services in the medical establishment of Indian army, navy and air force. Military Nursing Services (MNS) are only one part of the AFMS, which comprise of two other wings that are Army Medical Corps and Army Dental Corps.
There are a total of 220 vacancies in different nursing colleges for the four-year course of B.Sc. in Nursing which allows the candidates to join the Military Nursing Services. In order to be recruited into the Military Nursing Services, candidates have to go through a training of four years, before which they have to sign an agreement to serve the Military Nursing Services on the completion of their training.

There are 6 colleges of nursing that train nursing candidates. The 220 vacancies are divided among these 6 colleges. The vacancy details are as follows –
- Pune – 40 vacancies
- Kolkata – 30 vacancies
- Asvini – 40 vacancies
- New Delhi – 30 vacancies
- Lucknow – 40 vacancies
- Bangalore – 40 vacancies
Detailed notification with regard to the exam is yet to be released. It is scheduled to be released by the 14th November 2019. The application process will continue until the month of December 2019. The exam dates can be expected to be scheduled in the month of April 2020.
For the selection of the candidates for MNS training and recruitment, the selection process will comprise of two stages. Candidates will first have to appear for a Computer Based Test (CBT). This will be followed by an interview of the candidates selected on merit basis from the computer-based test. The final selection will be based on the evaluation of both the examination and the interview. The medical fitness of the candidates will also be taken into consideration.
Before starting the application process, candidates should first take a look at the eligibility criteria for the Military Nursing Services 2020 –
- Only female candidate can apply for the course.
- The candidate should be an Indian citizen.
- They should be born between 1st October 1995 to 30th September 2003.
- They should have passed higher secondary with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
- They should have scored not less than 50% aggregate marks.
Candidates can also apply provisionally if they are in the final year of the qualifying examination. They will be allowed to submit their passing certificate with the necessary subjects before beginning the training.
The exam pattern of the computer-based test for the MNS exam is as follows –
- The exam will be an online examination.
- The total time period awarded to the candidate will be equal to 90 minutes (one and half hour).
- Candidates will have to answer questions from the following subjects –
- General English
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- General Intelligence.
