Mixed reactions to JEE Mains 2016 exam in Kota

Mixed

More than a million students, of which Kota alone boasts of 50,000, have crossed the first hurdle towards securing a seat in the prestigious engineering colleges of the country today. More than 10K students appeared for JEE Mains in the coaching capital while 40,000 others from different coaching institutes in Kota took the exam at different centres across the country.

Pradeep Singh Gaur, CBSE Coordinator, Kota, said that the JEE Mains examination went off smoothly across all the 20 examination centres in the town.

Students had mixed opinion about the exam. The Physics section of JEE Mains was easier for some and difficult for others.

Shruti Bharuka found Mathematics section tougher than Physics and Chemistry and she had to spend more time on solving the questions in that section. Another aspirant, Madhusudan, who was appearing for JEE Mains for the second time, said that this year’s examination paper was relatively easier than last year’s. He feared that this time around, the cut off would soar high. Like Bharuka, he also found Mathematics section tougher than the other two subjects. Another aspirant Anushka Jha revealed that Physics paper was based on formulas and was the most difficult of all while Pratishtha Gupta said that Chemistry was a conceptual paper and easier than Physics and Mathematics this time. Diksha Jain too seconded Gupta and said that Chemistry paper was easier as it had a lot of numerical.

Parents who were waiting outside the examinations centres in the sweltering heat complained that at least the students should have been allowed to carry water bottles with them to the examination hall.  DK Sarkar, who had come all the way from Nagpur for his daughter, said, “The examination passed off smoothly and there was no chaos anywhere,” adding, “The aspirants should have been allowed to take water bottles with them as temperatures are high.”

On the other hand, most coaching institutes here were busy analyzing the examination papers till the time of filing this news report.
