The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was successfully conducted today on May 7, by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in over 104 test cities across the country. PaGaLGuY got in touch with the Academics Head of Allen Career Institute, Jaipur, Ashish Sharma for an expert analysis of the examination.
NEET 2017 Section-wise analysis:
Physics
The number of numerical questions in the Physics paper was quite a lot this year. Many students without proper practice lagged in time management. Many of them could not finish the examination on time. Although the questions were lengthy, they were not very tough. It was a very calculative paper which is generally not expected. Lack of numerical practice among medical aspirants, who prepare from NCERT books, caused the Physics paper to look tough.
Chemistry
The Chemistry paper was extremely easy and dealt mostly with analysing facts. It was properly balanced and equal weightage was given to questions from both class 11 and 12. All questions were directly from NCERT and the paper will help scoring good marks for candidates. Questions were mostly from Organic and Inorganic Chemistry and very few questions came from Physical Chemistry.
Biology
In Biology, there were almost 12 questions which were not directly from NCERT and some of the students might have faced problems because of that. But it would not affect much of the overall score of the candidates as the candidates got as many as 78 questions in the paper from known territories. The overall question structure of the Biology paper was easy and direct.
NEET 2017 overall analysis
Overall the NEET 2017 question paper was well balanced and average in difficulty level. It was easier than last year. The cut off of the paper would certainly go up as almost 90% of the entire paper was based on NCERT syllabus. The marks in rank holders will also go high this year.
The cut off for selection in 15 % All India Quota (AIQ) MBBS seat could go near 500 this year.
