NEET 2019 Eligibility Criteria – Detail information

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is an entrance examination for all those candidates who dream for the admission in graduate and post graduate medical course and the dental course in government or private medical academies and dental universities respectively in India. The regulatory body of NEET exam is National Testing Agency (NTA), and they have determined some eligibility criteria of NEET 2019. Therefore, the candidates aspiring to seek admission to the different medical courses like core medical, dental or ayush at the undergraduate are solely advised to have a look at the eligibility criteria for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2019.

It is vital that the candidates are eligible for the entrance exam as without it they will not be able to get the admission. NEET is the gateway to several top-notch medical and dental colleges at the undergraduate level; therefore, the candidate should meet the eligibility criteria.

Educational Qualifications:

Candidates should check the academic qualification first before filling out the NEET 2019 registration form as candidates would be required to provide the code of qualifying examination passed against the column provided for qualification examination.

The different codes are as follows as per NEET 2019:

  1. Code 01 – Candidates who are appearing in the final exam of 12th class or are waiting for the result are eligible to fill up the form. But if the candidate doesn’t qualify the exam with the required percentage, then they will not be given admission to the courses.
  2. Code 02 – Candidates who have showed up in the Senior Secondary Education or the Indian School of Certification subsequent to finishing 12 years of concentrate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as the centre subjects. Those who have completed 10+2 from Open Schools won’t be considered eligible for this pre-medical entrance test. If the National Committee does not prearrange the course content of the 10+2 education structure, candidates will have to undergo one-year pre-professional training before admission to any medical college.
  3. Code 03 – Candidates who have qualified the Intermediate or Pre-degree exam in science offered by Indian University or Board or any other recognized body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as an essential subject can register for the exam.
  4. Code 04 – Candidates who have passed the pre-proficient or pre-medicinal test with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English subsequent to finishing the Higher Secondary Examination or proportional including the common-sense tests and compulsory English are permitted for the test.
  5. Code 05 – Candidates are pursuing the first year in three years degree course from any recognized university with Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology/Biology and core level English.
  6. Code 06 – Candidates who have qualified B.Sc. degree from any recognized Indian University with a minimum of 2 subjects from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and cleared all previous exams.
  7. Code 07 – Competitors who have gifted the class twelfth test from National Institute for Open Schooling and State level Open Schools or some other examination comparable to the 10+2 test with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as primary subjects are adequate to show up in the test in May. However, the candidate should enter code 01 as default code if the candidate doesn’t fit in any of the examinations as mentioned above. Candidates should pass any of the qualifying examination specified with the subjects Biology/Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, and English individually. Additionally, the applicants who have contemplated abroad ought to have passed the subjects “Science/Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry and English” with half stamps to show up in NEET 2019 Medical Entrance Exam.

Apart from all above there is 15% All India Quota Seats and citizen of India, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply for NEET 2019. Candidates from the state of Jammu and Kashmir do not qualify for 15% All India Quota seats. However, if they wish to apply, then they must submit the online self-declaration which will be generated and printed automatically along with the confirmation page for the record. This would need to be presented during the counselling session. Candidates from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state are eligible for the All India Quota Seats with self-declaration.

It should also be noted that 85% seats will be filled through the state quota from all the states participating in NEET 2019. For this, the candidates must have an education from the state and should possess a valid domicile in the state. Candidates should also carry a residency proof of the state.
