NIT Uttarakhand-where rafting is part of the curriculum

NIT Uttarakhand which was established in 2010 is carrying out its activities from its temporary campus at Government Polytechnic, Srinagar, Uttarakhand. An extension of the temporary campus is also functional at old ITI Campus near Government Polytechnic.

The institute currently has five hostels for boys and one for girls in its temporary campus. All hostels are fully Wi-Fi connected with emergency/continuous power supply through DG set. Each hostel has security cameras installed for necessary security check and surveillance. The students get ample opportunities to avail all the indoor and outdoor games facilities such as Carom Board, Chess, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Badminton. A gymnasium is also available for the students to maintain their fitness. While basic medical facility is available on campus, emergency cases are taken to nearby hospitals. The Institute has a Conference Hall having capacity of 70 people. It is used for conducting meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.

The permanent campus of NIT Uttarakhand is being constructed in Sumari, Srinagar (Garhwal), extending over 300 acres of land. Sumari is located at a distance of ~22 Km from Srinagar. The foundation stone of permanent campus was laid on 19February 2014.

The institute offers facilities adventurous sports activities like river rafting/kayaking and ice skiing and organizes such activities every year (river rafting/kayaking in Alakhanda River and ice skiing at Auli.).

Studying at NITUK

Presently the Institute is running full time B. Tech. Program in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering with intake of 60 students in each branch.

The Institute has started the Ph. D. programme since 2013 in following branches:

· Mechanical Engineering

· Sciences and Humanities (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Social Science and English)

Life beyond the classroom

The student council successfully
conducted the Institute Gathering, Departmental Gathering, Inter-Institutional
Sports Activities and the Institute’s maiden Techno-cultural fest, Prodaya for
the first time in 2014.

Placement History

The institute sees many organisations on campus looking for
recruits and interns.
