NTA JEE Main Application Form 2020: Mistakes to avoid in the Application Form
The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is one of the most important national level entrance exams for engineering aspirants to get admission into the leading engineering colleges like the IITs, NITs, GFTIs or other private institutes.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is going to be conducting the JEE Main 2020 examination in January, the applications for which have been open for quite some time now. The examination will be held in as many as 234 cities across the country.
The application process is set to close on coming Monday, which is the 30th of September 2019. The examination will be conducted between January 6th and 11th, 2020. With the application process in full swing, the candidates who are interested in applying should do so very carefully.
Often, mistakes are committed while filling in the application forms, which are difficult and sometimes impossible to rectify.

Thus, the applicant can make a note of some of the common mistakes that they need to avoid in their application form for JEE Main examination. These common mistakes include –
- Eligibility criteria
Not matching the eligibility criteria is the most common mistake made by applicants in the process of applying. Candidates generally tend to nosedive into the application process rather than taking a few minutes to thoroughly verify if they are eligible for appearing for the exam.
When candidates don’t match the eligibility criteria, their application gets cancelled. Thus, details such as age limit, limits on the number of attempts, minimum marks need to apply should be carefully looked into.
- Personal information
Personal information can generally not go wrong. But when the application is made in haste minor errors like spelling mistakes, a wrong letter being used in the upper case or even errors in mentioning the age or other numerical details. Candidates must go slow and recheck these details at every step.
- Size of documents
There are specific guidelines stated by NTA for the uploading of image or other documents of the candidate in the application form.
The size and other details should be carefully read first, the photograph or document should be thus edited and only then uploaded in the form. Here are the prescribed sizes for some documents
- Photograph: passport size with 30mm × 45mm dimensions
- Signature: 80mm × 35mm dimensions
- Appropriate documents
There is an elaborate list of documents that must be uploaded during application. They include the following –
- Mark sheet of class 10
- Mark sheet of class 12
- Diploma or degree certificate and other academic details
- Employment certificate (if any)
- Reservation certificate (if any)
If the candidates fail to produce their accurate documents, their application can be jeopardised.
- Payment of fees
Mistakes in payment of fees can cause the complete cancellation of the application. There are different fees to be paid by different people. Here are the fee details –
- Boys (General/OBC) – Rs 500/-
- Girls – Rs 250/-
- Other reserved category candidates – Rs 250/-
Candidates can print a receipt of their fee payment for future use.
By avoiding these basic mistakes, a candidate will be entirely successful in their JEE Main exam application.
