1. Battle of
Hydaspes (326 BC)-
The battle
was fought between Alexander the Great and King Porus on the banks of the
Hydaspes River (now called the Jhelum River) in the Punjab near Behra. Alexander
the Great defeated King Porus in the battle.

2. Kalinga War (261
BC) –
The battle was fought between
Mauryan Empire and Ashoka the Great. Ashoka defeated Mauryan Empire. Kalinga
war considered one of the bloodshed wars in the battles of Indian History.
After the war, Ashoka adopted Buddhism.

3. First battle
of Tarain (1191)
– The first
battle of Tarain was fought between Prithivraj Chauhan and Mohammad Ghori at
Tarain near Thaneswar. Prithivraj Chauhan defeated Mohammad Ghori in the
battle.

4. Second battle
of Tarain (1192):
The second
battle of Tarain was fought between Prithivraj Chauhan and Mohammad Gori at
Tarain near Thaneswar. Mohammad Ghori defeated Prithivraj Chauhan in the
battle.  

5. Battle of
Chandawar (1194):
The battle
was fought between Jaichandra and Mohammad Ghori. Mohammad Ghori defeated Jaichandra
in the battle.  

6. Battle of
Panipat:
There have been three battles of
Panipat in the Indian history.

1. First battle
of Panipat (1526):
The first
battle of Panipat was fought between Mughal Babur and Sultan of Delhi Ibrahim
Lodhi. Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodhi in the battle.

2. Second
battle of Panipat (1556):
The second
battle of Panipat was fought between Mughal Akbar and Hemu. Akbar defeated Hemu
in the battle.

3. Third
battle of Panipat (1761):
The third
battle of Panipat was fought between Ahmad Shah Abdali and Marathas. Ahmad Shah
Abdali defeated Marathas in the battle.

7. Battle of
Khanwa (1527):
The battle
of Khanwa was fought between Babur and Rana Sanga. Babur defeated Rana Sanga in
the battle.

8. Battle of
Chausa (1539):
The battle
of Chausa was fought between Mughal Emperor Humayun and Sher Shah Suri. Sher
Shah Suri defeated Humayun in the battle.  

9. Battle of
Kanauj or Bilgram (1540):
The battle
of Kanauj was fought between Mughal Emperor Humayun and Sher Shah Suri. Sher
Shah Suri defeated Humayun in the battle.  

10. Battle of
Bannihatti or Talikota (1565):
The battle
of Talikota was fought between the Vijayanagra Empire and Deccan Sultanates.  Deccan Sultanates defeated Vijayanagra Empire
in the battle. Talikota is situated in northern Karnataka, about 80 km to the
southeast from the city of Bijapur.

11. Battle of
Haldighati (1576):
The battle
of Haldighati was fought between Mughal Emperor Akbar  and Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar. Akbar defeated
Rana Pratap in the battle.

12. Battle of
Plassey (1757):
The battle
of Khanwa was fought between British army under the command of Robert Clive and
Bengal Nawab Shiraj-ud-daulah. British army won the battle.

13. Battle of
Wandiwash (1760):
The battle
of Wandiwash was fought between English army under the command of Sir Eyre
Coote’s and French army under the command of Count de Lally. English army
defeated French in the battle.

14. Battle of
Buxar (1764):
The battle of Buxar was fought
between British East India Company and combined army of Mir Qasim (the Nawab of
Bengal) and the Nawab of Awadh and Mughal King Shah Alam. British East India
Company won the war.
