The placement process was completed in two days on February 8, 2010, said the institute press release.
“The job offers were diverse and numerous (student to job ratio was 1:2.53). Day Zero saw organizations like ITC, BASIX, IFMR, FINO, GCMMF, NDDB, SKS Microfinance, HiWEL, Tribal Welfare Departments (Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh),” it added.
The jobs span across different sectors of the rural domain like agri-business, micro-finance, livelihood promotion, tribal welfare, disaster management, health improvement, education and other fields. About 30 students received offers from Microfinance and Government welfare organizations.
“This year also saw two overseas placements from HiWEL, an organization working on a unique concept of providing education to the under-privileged children through computer kiosks,” said the press statement. These students would work on a project in Bhutan, said the institute spokesperson.
