SP Jain, Nirma will take CAT scores

It seems that the absence of certain B-school names accepting the Common Admissions Test (CAT) scores in the online copy of the CAT bulletin released yesterday was assumed as a proof of their exit from the CAT system by a section of the media. Among others, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai and Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad were names as the B-schools that had opted out of CAT as a way of admission.

However, Prof Parimal Merchant of SP Jain refuted the reports as ‘completely fake’. “CAT scores are very much the method of seeking admission to SP Jain’s PDGM and other management courses this year,” he added.

When asked why SP Jain’s name was absent from the CAT bulletin, he said that it would have been due to an administrative lapse and the institute will clarify the issue with the Indian Institutes of Management, who organize the CAT exam every year.

Likewise, Nirma University too clarified that they would accept the CAT scores this year. “It is not true that we have opted out of CAT for our admission process. Students will have to apply with their CAT scores only in order to gain admission to our fulltime MBA program,” said Mr Neeraj Arora, Assistant Officer, Communications.
