SSC CGL Tier 2, 2016 Analysis: English paper lengthy, say candidates

Many candidates felt English, the second paper of Tier 2 -Combined Graduate level Exam (CGL) was lengthy. Questions of one topic were bundled together and were more than 15 at a stretch. This gave a feeling of the paper being time-consuming.

Most candidates also perceive English as a tough subject to tackle because of their vernacular background. Nityanand Kumar, a candidate from Mumbai who gave the exam today said, “English went poor. I did not prepare properly for it. I could attempt Paper I better than Paper II.”

For another candidate, Sudhanshu Potpose, English was of average difficulty. Sudhanshu said, “I spent a lot of time on Jumbled sentences type questions. Apart from these, synonyms and phrases were also difficult.”

About cut offs Sudhanshu said, “I think the cut off would range from 125-130 marks. I am keeping my finger crossed.”

Soham Das, a candidate who gave the exam yesterday was also felt that English was lengthy because questions of single type were asked together. “I attempted 154 questions out of 200”, said Soham.

Two papers namely Statistics and General Studies will be conducted in two slots tomorrow, December 2, 2016.
