What is RRB NTPC | Vacancies Detail and Exam Pattern

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is an organization under the Government of India which is responsible for the appointment of new employees for the prestigious jobs in Indian Railways. Recently, RRB announced the notification of RRB NTPC 2019. NTPC is the selection of employees under Non-Technical Popular Category. They have announced that they have a vacancy for around 35000 candidates this year under NTPC.

The recruitment process for RRB NTPC posts involves Computer Based Test I & II, Computer Based Aptitude Test, Typing Skill Test, and Document Verification/ Medical Examination.

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT) stage I for RRB NTPC:

This is the first stage in the RRB NTPC examination process.

Following is the examination pattern for CBT I for RRB NTPC:

In the CBT I, each question will carry one mark and the examination will be held for a time duration of 90 minutes. For every wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 1/3 marks deducted from the right answer.

The examination of RRB NTPC is of screening nature and the normalized score of CBT I will be used for the shortlisting of candidates for the CBT II depending upon the merit. The candidates qualifying in the CBT I will be

  1. Computer Based Test II for RRB NTPC:

Here, the total number of candidates allowed to appear for the exam will be 20 times the community wise vacancies of posts notified by the RRB. Following is the exam pattern for CBT II:

The total time duration for the exam is 90 minutes. Each question will carry one mark and 1/3 marks will be subtracted as negative marking for each wrong answer.

  1. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT):

CBAT examination will be conducted only for the candidates who have opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master posts.

In the examination, the candidates will be required to score a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each test battery in order to get qualified.

  1. Typing Skill Test (TST):

The examination will be conducted for the candidates who have applied for the posts of Junior Accounts cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper. The examination will be of qualifying nature and also the marks obtained in the TST will not be considered for merit rank preparation. Here the candidates will be asked to type 30 words per minute in English Language or 25 Words Per Minute in Hindi without any spell check and editing tools facility. The merit list will be calculated only for the candidates who have cleared the TST.

  1. Document Verification:

The candidates who have qualified in the CBT II and in CBT II & CBAT/ TST will be allowed to appear for the Document Verification process. The candidates will be asked to submit certain necessary documents as required by the exam conducting authority. Once the candidates clear the DV process, if required, Medical Examination (ME) will be conducted. In the ME process, as prescribed by the board, medical tests will be held for the selected candidates.  After qualifying in all the above stages, the candidates will be recruited for the RRB NTPC posts.
