For your information Supreme Court has stayed that circular. So, there should be fms this year
Please continue discussions here
I think this thread is irrelevant as preparation for the entrance exams is more or less similar with slight changes and few extra questions to be prepared. So it will be a general discussion as such on MBA entrance exam prep.
If mods think otherwise this thread will continue.
renamed the thread to FMS Delhi Discussions
please continue here for the next season fms written exam and discussions.

Although Supreme Court and other State Courts have barred the AICTE circular for this academic session, the circular at the first place was only for AICTE approved institutions. Universities like Symbiosis, IIFT, FMS, NMIMS, IITs etc does not come under AICTE purview and hence their entrances were never in the peril of getting abolished. The only significance of the circular was that institutes like MICA, XLRI etc and others which accept XAT scorecards were asked to stop their own entrances/use XAT scorecards. And it is highly possible that XAT will continue to be held in future academic sessions as well. So rest assure FMS will indeed be held in the forthcoming season.
EDIT: IIMs also don't come under AICTE scanner 😛

Count me in for the race to FMS 2012..
I missed out FMS this year by 10 Marks (dint cross the overall cutoffs) Yet managed to convert IIFT and NITIE
For those starting with FMS preparations, you can very well start doing the wordlists (Barrons GRE wordlist s good ). And get hold of the book 'The Students Companion' by Wilfred D. Best. This book will definitely help fetch a good score in FMS verbal section.
Some websites which might be helpful
Ye Olde English Sayings
English Idioms and Idiomatic Expressions - UsingEnglish.com (Idioms should be give priority from FMS)
'A' - English Phrasal Verb List - UsingEnglish.com
All the Best for your preparations.
I am in...
There is no problem with the intention but I am not quite sure about the timing. I believe it's too early to start prep specific to the FMS test. The basics would remain the same and nothing great would be discussed on this thread after a while. Am letting this thread run for the moment but if there is nothing great being discussed on this thread and there are spam posts being made, then it would be closed.
Friends, I am one of those candidates who has converted FMS this year. According to me, the weightage of pure vocabulary based questions has been reducing over the years. Last year, it was still lesser than previous years. The key to cracking FMS lies in speed than anything else. One needs to attempt close to 150 questions/200 usually to be through the cutoffs. Question level is much easier and not upto cat Level. Basic cat preparation should see u through RC, DI and Quant sections. But one needs to practice a lot of mock papers of FMS, MHCET, SNAP, levels where basically one's speed is tested. Remember, for FMS, speed is the key and not difficulty.
What AICTE told does not apply to university affiliated colleges. FMS delhi will continue to be held as before. So guys, gear up for next yr preps. All the best to all.
im in guys....

For quants, your cat prep should suffice. I followed basic TIME study material and Arun Sharma. This should be sufficient. The sectional tests of TIME and Test Funda are very good. For english, regular reading of Hindu and Frontline is recommended. I found the links to RC passages at TIME student home page very useful. It had links to good articles from guardian, BBC, etc sites which served as good and varied reading. REad a lot, so that u develop speed. RC passages in FMS are long, but very easy. straightforward answers u'll find. Around 150-160 attempts with 75-80% accuracy will see u through.
Hi puys,
I am opening this thread because of following reasons:
(1). Normalization in CAT playing the role of spoiler for many students as they are getting completely unexpected result.
(2). IIMs giving high weightage to past Academic records, thus making it a uphill task for students who due to various reason have somehow scored relatively low in 10th and 12th.
(3). IIMs unpredictable nature of giving calls due to which a student getting lower than 90 percentile in overall is getting IIM calls and a student getting more then 99 percentile in overall and 90 percentile in sectional are not getting even a single IIM call.
(4). XATs out of this world question paper for year 2011, which again had shattered many well prepared students dream.
(5). Fee is so High that even after finishing your degree and getting a job you will have to put major portion of your salary for LOAN repayment.
Now in chaos of all these problems FMS has become like elixir for many deserving and well prepared students. As it has neither changed its pattern abruptly nor it has any unpredictable selection pattern. And its fee for 2 year is just Rs. 20900.
Selection pattern of FMS:
Written test : 70 %
GD 10 %
PI 10%
Extempore 10 %
In GD PI- EXTEMPORE a student even scoring 1/10-1/10-1/10 is qualified.

Note:Candidates in the final year of Bachelors Degree/Post-Graduate Degree programme are eligible to apply and appear in the Entrance Test, irrespective of their percentage of scores obtained so far, as long as they expect to fulfill the eligibility criteria when their results are declared. (The candidates will have to provide their final result before 1st October 2011).
So Now taking these points into cosideration let us start preparing for this one of elitist b-school of India.
I am attaching this year's Detailed score sheet of students in GD, PI, EXTEMPORE and WRITTEN TEST MARKS.
I am also attaching previous year question papers(2010, 2009, 2007, 2006).
