I am no Sir please address me as Anand :)

Anyways last year based on PG data i think the last guy who got GDPI call had 95.31 percentile overall. Other than this 70 percent sectional requirement for all the sections. I will be getting the official figures relating to Last Rank and percentile that got in for the respective courses from the admission office as soon as possible.

Cheers
Anand

Is good academic record and work ex are required to get a call converted ??

MDI has a history of calling people irrespective of Quotas and solely based on CAT score. Right now concentrate on getting an awesome score. High CAT scores do put you at an advantage going by the last year final conversions. Work experience and academic do have weightage in the 2nd round but a high CAT score will set off a comparatively low academic score. In a nut shell - Dont think about all that right now. Prepare hard for CAT and get a call.

All the best

I am aware that this is a question which doesn't have a definite answer. However, I'd still like to ask. We all know that many good institutions have come under the umbrella of CAT - IIT-B, IIT-D, XIM-B, etc etc. How does the inclusion of these colleges affect the c/o of MDI, which in itself is one of the finest colleges in India? Is there a chance for the c/o to go below 95.31?

As a senior I know you'd have to cater to all sorts of questions and this might just be one of those which you wouldn't prefer answering. But as an aspirant, I just had to ask. My anxiety and curiosity got the better of me!

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I can completely understand your anxiety but what i fail to understand is how will knowing the answer to this question help you right now. See it is impossible to predict the cutoff for GDPI as it depends on the applications that come in for MDI and their relative score. Competition is, was and will be fierce. No use thinking about this. Give your best get the best. Hope to see you in MDI next year.

MDI calls approximately 2500 aspirants every year for the GD/PI process. So, the cutoff more or less depends on the percentile obtained by top 2500 applicants. Cutoffs of other college won't affect cutoff of MDI and it can't be predicted in advance. Anyways, it is too soon to worry about cutoffs. Prepare for CAT well and if you get a good percentile, you will surely get a call.

Hi

You know even i had this question in mind when i was an aspirant. Well this link helped me a lot. This is the article that was posted on PaGaLGuY related to 2011 placements.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to shoot.

Mate, I have seen these links before. I wanted to know the kind of profiles, not the avg salary and I wanted to know what specialization is MDI known for? Thanks.

Regarding specialization MDI has traditionally been known for marketing profiles. Since i have come here i have got to know that the other profiles specially Finance, Consulting, Operations etc are doing really good. You can also verify the same from the link that i have provided. So you can find all kinds of profiles here and believe me when i say that they are really good
Again talking about marketing profiles some of the professors out here are simply the best in the industry. The curriculum and the hordes of activities makes sure that whatever core subject you choose you will have plenty of opportunities.
Personally i am inclined towards marketing 😉 Hope that helps.

All the best
Anand

PS:I have referred your query to the seniors also who will be chipping in with their replies asap as they are in a better position to say about profiles having already been here for more than a year.

Hi Haripal

As has been mentioned in the few posts above there is no reservation in MDI
Other than this for the number of seats please refer to Sourabh's post.

Thanks

Well i would just like to assist Anand and Saurabh by adding my perspective...
Look...MDI is a quality institute...and is a better brand than the colleges u mentioned...bt it depends on every student...say u get HR in MDI...bt you dont want HR..so u'll prefer another b-school...bt some people take HR coz they want anything in MDI...bt if a student gets PGPM or sometimes PGPIM in MDI, there are less chances that he would prefer lower b-schools..

As far as the cut offs go..it gets very unpredictable and then the list moves very late...by that time some more people already get another b-schools so the list moves more in the latter stages...
Hey Anand. Thanks for the reply. I too am inclined towards Marketing.

Maybe I'll be your junior next year. I need to know something really important. I am working in a top telecom firm and by the time my classes start in B-Schools, I'll be 1 month short of completing my Bond period of 20 months. If I don't pay the bond money of 4 lakhs, I will not get experience and relieving letters. I will however have my joining letter and sal slips. I am only applying to the top 7-8 colleges of India this time (Including MDI) and I think if I get through any one of these, I should not let them go. Kindly tell me is there any disadvantage of leaving a company without relieving letter? Will my work ex be counted for laterals?

Thank you/.

I think that you will have your joining letter and first and last month's salary slip. From what I know it is OK if you have your joining letter and your first and last month's salary slip.
However I have to get this confirmed from Seniors. Will get back to you after confirming it.

Just to add to this, please fill the preferences for programs after considerable thinking as you will not be able to change it later.
And do save a copy of your form for your future reference.
