– Candidates will be shortlisted based on the score in the entrance exams.

– Shortlisted candidates will have to write a Statement of Purpose and then appear for a personal interview.

– The final list of candidates will be prepared on the basis of performance in the qualifying exam, personal interview, academic performance, and statement of purpose.

Program Objectives:

The ever changing business scenario and widespread leadership crunch has highlighted the need for better trained managers who are functionally competent and have a global business perspective. Growing expectations of organizations from managers to act and perform as leaders and entrepreneurs in their roles has further heightened the need for training middle level managers in the new concepts and practices.

The PGDM- Exec Program enables line / functional managers to take on general management responsibilities by providing them with cross functional exposure and training.
The objectives of the program are:

To develop functional knowledge and behavioral skills of managers
To develop and nurture leadership and higher order managerial capabilities
To enhance entrepreneurial capabilities
To help develop a global business perspective

The program has been designed to help professionals develop a holistic perspective about the business world.
The first two terms comprise core courses that form the foundation of a management program.
Terms III and IV comprise a mix of core and elective subjects. The compulsory subjects help build the management perspective while the electives hone the technical skills of a student.
A student will be given the option to major in any one / two areas or to be a generalist. Students will be asked to select a minimum number of electives in each term and they can opt for electives in their area of interest.
In addition, Term III provides students an additional exposure in the form of a social responsibility project or an international immersion assignment.
Term V acts as a culmination point where a student should be able to integrate the learnings from different courses in the form of a capstone project.

Pedagogy:

Teaching pedagogy would include case-based learning, class discussions, assignments, field projects, seminars/ workshops, management games, role-plays and simulation based learning. SIMSR also organizes number of industry interactions to offer real life experiential learning environment.

Was looking forward to such a thread to gain more insight into this program.
I have a question-
1)How is the placement scenario in this institute?

I know that placement for executive batches are on a rolling type and are much different from the normal 2 yr mba placement types. But how are the batch mates anticipating about the whole process provided this is the first batch. The question for self sponsored students like me who want to go to higher mgmt roles thru this program.

2)How many students in the current batch are self sponsored?

Hi People ,

I have got offer for the 15 month Exe program from Somaiya . I have a work experience of 5 years out of which 2 years of international (UK) experience . Also I have got a new job offer which includes a very good hike and good designation.Basically I am a Bsc computer science graduate passed out in march-2007.

Please can someone advise me . I am a bit confused whether to go ahead with the program offer or job offer.

I need inputs from the current batch who is undergoing the course at somaiya and need serious advise from them.

About placement,

As this is our first batch, our placement process has just started which now approaching companies to inform and to make an acknowledgement among the corporate's about this course.


WE are given a choice to select the company(Apart from those who regularly come for placements) whichever we wanted and then the Institute will go and approach the company.

The Names of regular companies is available on SIMSR website in placement brochures.

Secondly,

I don't have Idea what POST and salary that you are going to get with the company offer you received..
but surly this will help you in incremental stages.

We have more than 7 IT guys who left IT field and Ground level work just to Jump to Lateral Placements i.e. managerial role.
They are from Emphasis, wipro etc. with Exp in UK, USA etc.

Now you decide, as per me this is the best option and hoping for more placement offer( big package) than regular PGDM.

Hi,
This is Bharat,I also received admit for PGDM(Exec).I do carry around 10+ yrs of automotive experience(India n abroad).Course definitely seems fine one n sure will find way in industry considering Somaiya's reputation.
Little skeptical bout placements, Just wanna know bout possibilities of OEMs,manufacturing cos.
N quick advice on wheather to go ahead with this one or should I try others like SPJ or IIMs???
I almost made up my mind for this one though :)

I have also received an admit for the PGDM (Exec) Program for the 2012-2013 batch. I am from telecommunication industry with 5 years of experience in Operations Sector..Prashant can you please tell me how is the program for a post MBA career in operations.
Will the PGDM (Exec) placements take place along with the 2 year PGDM students or will there be a seperate recruitment schedule for the Exec students....
Secondly, I would also like to know about the quality of projects that have been offered to students from current batch....
I would be helpful if you could answer my queries.
