Can somebody tell how can I get knowledge of HR. Please suggest books, magazines, and provide pdfs you have.

Can anyone tell me their contact numbers at which we can call to know the results?
I've to ask for two of my friends.
Reply by mail is taking too much time. Calling them up personally would be better, I guess.

bt lemme tel u one thing...
the cut-offs though never announced officially by TISS, are speculative n done by various entrance coaching centers...so plz dnt waste ur precious time on discussing/thinking abt things that r past.

We are there to answer ur queries to the best of our abilities for the next MAHAYUDDH lined up... dnt worry, you wil see others joining this thread shortly frm our batch 2009-11..

Finally TISS doesnt mails SCORECARDS to anybdy...unless they have mentioned it in their brochure that they wil do so (which i doubt they havnt)

all one gets is qualified/not qualified status.

plus nobody knows abt how many calls TISS makes every year, there are always waiting calls which get converted at last moment
Every year there are sum substantial changes.

PS: The ent test ppr for this year had major changes, plus no. of seats have also been hiked up. This year pattern m nt aware of, bt in prev years, the ratio was around 1 seat : 8 or 10 candidates

there is no point, thinking abt the magnitude of the fyt.
Plz be assured abt one thing, if u hav recvd a GD/PI call for any program (HR included) final decision on making the final list of candidates will nt be complied till each call getter has had his fair chance of appearing before PI panel

Therefore,I request all of you to channelize ur dear energies in preparing for the final hurdle, rather than thinking abt wat and how many

Dont worry about your engineering background. There are quite a lot in our class. Me being one.
Regarding gd/pi please go through magazines like human factor, business week where there are case studies.
Please go through last years threads where ppl have mentioned about their gd/pi experience
Your interview can go any way. you can be asked about ur work ex, about your interest in hr, the hr in your company, about your sop. it can be anything. I was grilled on my previous company's HR , my sop and the two questions which any person appearing for a tiss interview, should be ready to answer any time of the day. Why hr and why tiss.


As i mentioned in my previous post , work on your sop because i think thats the base on which your pi will be conducted

Congrats to all of those selected for the GD PI rounds!! I am sure a lot of you are anxious about the road ahead.Fear not! We seniors will be here to quell your doubts!! I fully agree with the suggestions given by daemon and you need to start working on those right away! We are currently looking at better ways to reach out to you.Keep watching this space for more!

Can you please tell me if people with work-ex are given weightage over the freshers during the selection process? I am a fresher and I am curious to know about the ratio of people with and without work-ex in tiss hrm. Kindly reply.

It is important for all the call getters to know that being a fresher or having workex will not play any significant role in your selection... Selection will mainly depend on how you guys are able to convince the panel about your interest in HR and in TISS... The more genuine you seem the better are your chances...
As for numbers.... our class has exactly a 50:50 mix of freshers and workex people... So chill and enjoy the rest of the day

I know this is too early for such a question, but a genuine doubt...
You said that 50% of your class is freshers...
So do they get summer placements/ Final placements of the same level calibre as the experienced guys??
Also, Does anyone having Work experience/ Prior academic knowledge of HR have an edge over the others in the GD/ Pis??

Seriously Man this is too early to ask this question as you yourself rightly said....
But your concerns and notions are respected coz you are here to make an informed decision if you finally make it there....And we all are here to help you all make informed decisions...:) :)
Well if you are having a prior HR work exp,it may slightly help you in the GD/PI but again 'slightly' is the word....We jus have two people in our batch of 48 who have prior HR work exp,so you can imagine that it is not at all a big criteria...
Again work exp candidates have greater knowledge/perform better than freshers is just a big myth coz hardly anyone in their short work experience gets to interact with HR people to actually know about them....So chill out :grin: :grin:
As far as the main concern about placement goes,you know being a fresher sometimes is really beneficial especially during summer placements because many companies look for fresh blood during their summer placements...:):)
As far as the pay packages go,I dont see a huge difference there either....And even if you are a fresher,if you have the goods and deliver it well then no one can stop you from earning more than your work ex peers...:grin:There are lot many examples from past that reiterate my previous statement....
That doesnt mean that work experience is bad....Many companies also want work exp people(relevant/not relevant)....And even they may end up getting the highest pay packages...So the moral of the story is there everything for everyone at TISS....
We all welcome you with open arms and request you all to jus keep on shooting your querries...We will be more than glad to respond...:grin:
