Seniors pls help..I have been selectd at SIBM. I want to do mba in finance.So, is there any test before they provide any specialisation? and when do they take it?

Yes there are specialization tests before you take up any particular discipline.. what will happen is : 1. After you arrive on campus, your normal classes will start 2. For the first 45 days(till mid july) you will be bombarded with info about each and every specialization 3. based on the above knowledge, you would be made to choose your top 2 preferences for specializations 4. test will be held for your chosen 2 preferences.. it will happen in end july 5. syllabus of these tests will be - all that has been taught since you arrived on campus till the day you sit for these exams.. 6. there will also be interviews happening for the same set of specializations- to be taken by faculties... 7. based on how you score in the test n interview... your total marks will be calculated...
Since you want finance: your preference 1 will be Finance preference 2 might be any other stream
to obtain finance.. you need to be in the top 45 of students who actually sat for the finance tests n interviews.. if you achieve that.. you will be given your desired specialization...
dont worry bout this too much... its not a hard as it sounds... if you are attentive from the very beginning... then life will be certainly easier for you.....
Hi Seniors, one question is baffling me a little bit. I want to pursue my MBA in HR but i have 3 yrs work ex in a IT company. So will my experience be counted during the placements?? Plzz help
I really dont have great insight into this as i have not seen the offer letter this time around...
but i can tell you from my personal experience... when we entered coll last yr... we were specifically informed that before 15th june.. any withdrawal will result in a deduction of 25k(non refundable) + 1k(UGC rule).... so we would lose a total of 26k.... if the withdrawal was made after 15th june then we would lose around 3 lakhs(memory is foggy.... am old..... so not entirely sure)...
this time around the non-refundable part for you guyz is 31k..... so i suggest you better look at the offer letter ASAP.... if you dont have access.... then please ask any of your batchmates....

acually this tym v lose the whole amount onli if v withdraw admission aftr 7th of july...tht much i remember...but the amount lost if withdrawn between 6th june and 6th july is different...if anybody cud provide the info it wud b of gr8 help...

Hi, yes your experience will definitely be of help in time of final placement... my batchmates also have an avg work ex of 2 yrs with quite a few having 3-4 yrs.... one guy even has 6 yrs of work ex.... so when you sit for finals... co. are likely to offer you 30k-50k more compensation per year of your work ex as compared to me(a fresher)...

Hii, Thanks Shourya....it was indeed a very useful information for me. Actually i had a prior notion that people having exp in IT field should take Operations and Systems to get the most benefit during the placements.....now i can choose the specialization with which i want to continue with my career....:D

we have all networks on campus... and they function equally well.. but before making a decision right now... you can come down to campus n decide... after you guyz arrive.. mobile co. will their their representatives to campus... they will set up kiosks n try to woo you with their schemes.. they often have quite attractive offers as well.... idea also offers CUG on campus...
so i'd advise you to come on campus before taking a new no...

Hi Shourya.....i am leaving for SIBM on 4th and will be reaching the airport at 10:30 am.....so i believe i won't be able to catch the bus for the campus.... i have to directly book a taxi from the airport....plzz suggest if der is any other better way of conveyance than this???

when you land in pune airport... take a prepaid cab.... tell them you want to go to symbiosis lavale.... it should take around 700 bucks... best way to get on campus..

i dont think there is any point in sending nitin prabhu msgs.... he is not a student anymore.... if you have sent a request for the FB groups... then the present ART members will cross check your confirmation n accept your request...
